Great footage Manuel :)
So I tried the gopro for the first time yesterday, using some great info here, however results were really bad.
I used it in a super suit case, 2,7k 60fps 4:3, shutter 1/120, colors gopro-5500k, partly cloudy.
Videos came out to be too bright, 3:4 of screen is just white and you can't see anything when facing the sun.
I guess i will need to try shutter at auto and ev at -1,5.
Or, use nd32 filter, but that way I can't use the ss case.
Is the gopro still 10mt waterproof if you use polarpro fliter?
I have H5 and H6 - both are waterproof for windsurf and snorkel without any additional case is my experience. prior to breaking down and buying the ND filters, i tried getting cinematic blur using cam settings but results were random, and unkown to me until i got home and downloaded etc.
I've had good luck with either of ND16 or ND 32 in clear or overcast conditions and have sorta settled into the ND32 without much agonizing over subtleties. you'll still want to lock the ISO. i think mine's at 400 and i can let cam determine auto-exposure. if you don't lock the ISO, i think the cam may bump ISO waay high and get 'noisey' results, i.e., digital version of grainey. with ISO locked at 400 and dark filter, it doesn't have much choice but to under-expose if used indoors.
I've used the polar pro ND filters and they maintained waterproof. they came with little annular rubber gasket that forms the seal from filter to housing. if you dont have that, or it's not installed properly, i'd expect disaster. i was careful during install and it didn't seem particularly tricky. as you know - it is your risk as it's been mine, but it has been no problem at all and that includes the gopro mounted on clewview mount dipping into the water at full speed going over chop or raking the sail too much.
as others have said - dont forget to charge batts beforehand, try to get proper cam angle solidly fixed, and Tether it! i made a small padeye out of thin aluminum plate and GOOP glued it to the cam's mounting case and I use some fishing line and snap swivels as the tether.
look forward to seeing some good results :)
Forgot to mention, iso was 200-400.
Ok, thanks for the reply, i will probably risk it and use with filter.
82% battery recorded for 50mins, so one hr per battery, below my expectations but 2-2,5hr per day is good enough.
