The water police are just not doing their job in controlling these hoons.
This discussion comes up every season.

The Marine Area Command number is 1800 658 784 ,please ring them and express your concers, they probably dont read this forum.

Spoke to the RMS Boating Safety Officer for Botany today on this issue.

In his meeting with Water Police this week, they will put in a patrol/boat to Kyeemagh/Brighton for this weekend.
To check out what is happening & just to show their prescence.

Still worth reporting any incidents - with specifics.

Coming from the Gold Coast, and now sailing a lot at Kyeemagh/Sydney Airport, I don't understand what everybody is complaining about.
On a busy day you might get three jet-skis there. And they don't even cut you off or crash into you. Not a jet-ski hire in sight.

^ These people have never ridden a jet ski before. Get out the way!!!

^ This is the actual channel we sail in, A.K.A. The Train. Some numpty put the jet-ski hire course in the channel, which is very narrow.

I'm putting my flame-suit on but I didn't even realise there was a jet-ski problem at Kyeemagh. They don't bother me in the slightest. You're all soft.

Type, delete, type, delete... I want to say something 'un-Australian', but I won't.

Why not....these Jet Skiers arnt Australian and dont want to be Australian!

Yeah they should just go back to where they came from !
do you guys want to come and get a Southern Cross tattoo so we can be blood brothers bonded in the love of Australia and keeping Australia for Australians?
we should get some stickers for our cars at the same time that say 'I grew here you flew here'

in all seriousness, sometimes I'm totally perplexed by the spread of xenophobic sentiment in this country.

To be honest I don't think it has anything with xenophobia. Its all got to do with the actions and behaviour of individuals. Its also got to do with the fact that this bit of open waterway is the closest with a boat ramp for around two million people.

ha, the only reason you people make such a big deal about the jet skis at Bot, is because they are Lebs, they intimated you, and you feel you have no recourse about it apart from whinging about it

If this were white kids, then there would be heaps of white heros confronted them, but since there Lebs, the average middle class cracker finds them offensive and unapproachable

It wouldn't matter if these kids weren't on jetskis, instead just hanging around the beach, that will still result in the average aussie taken offense, mainly cause their intimated, simply

The jet skis on bot have nothing on the crackers, drunk as, around Pittwater,

Ive noticed boats, big fishing tinnies, drive around bot like crazy, in fact, I think a sailor was run over by one at Bot.........but its always the Lebs on jet skis that is complained about

Aghh Milsy, just as racist as ever. You really are a sad and disturbed individual.

Pfffff, do you even know the area............................

Trust me, the only reason the likes of Moby, Wineman ect are calling the Police is because the people riding the jet skis are Lebanese Aussies

Hey, its ok, but in my opinion only Aus4 can truly call Bot home, the rest of you don't sail enough to carry on about it

Ive sailed over 10,000 ks there, never had a problem with anyone on jet ski?????????

MDSXR6T are you eating something??????

Sorry Johnny, but you have got me totally wrong on that count - because I actually chat to the jetskiers down there.

And I am forever grateful to the jetskier who a couple of years ago helped me recover $2000 worth of gear from 1.5 km off Brighton. (and Aus4's help as well).

There are many ways of going about this, awareness & education & common sense are just some of those.
My conversations with the Boating Safety guy was to make them aware that some people are concerned for the safety of swimmers as much as windsurfers or other water users. They do not anticipate any drastic action - just show a prescence

We/they are also aware that in the last year there was a head-on between 2 jetskis at Brighton Le sands with an emergency tracheotomy having to be performed on the beach on one of the drivers!

Be careful about pre-judging others opinions. Catch you up the Lake shortly

I hate the fishermen. They leave their lines around which kills birds and stuff.
I always give the one-legged seagulls more chips.

Sorry Wineman, I shouldn't have thrown you in with the other crackers that were expressing the usual, " there not Australian, blah blah" sentiment

In my opinion, Botany doesn't represent an exclusive windsurfing spot, part of its magic is other watercraft enjoying themselves, and a heap of different people approaching there day at the water

As stated, sailed heaps there, had jet skis do stupid things near me.....its enjoyable, and part of sailing Botany, a bit more thrilling than Narra

Since the Jetskis are not being malicious, they are not trying to run you over, whats the problem?

Just looks like ol wowsers........wowsing

Milsy, as a maroubra local (read into that what you will) I've been surfing the bay all my life both inside (bare island and kp) and the spot just round the corner you've no doubt heard of. I find it laughable that you mention locals. If you come to Ours on a good day you'll see how jetski riders behave respectfully and safely.

The jetski riders at kyeemagh ride dangerously closely to swimmers and only meters from shore. It's going to take a death before something I'd done. Kiters aren't allowed up there, why are jetskiers?

This thread is obviously dead, but I want to tack on the end that I've surfed Cow Bombie and other spots like Shippies, Rights, et al and the blokes whose life I put my hands in are true masters of water craft... these ****ing morons at kyeemagh (or any flat water, for that matter) have no jet-ski skills what-so-ever. They're just bogans on watercraft. No better than a 17 y/o doing a burn out in the carpark (do you applaud that?) and thinking everyone reckons they're great. Where I've surfed and relied on my partner on a jetski to have survival skills, I've lived to tell the story and I and sit here typing now because of it. Any moron can ride a jetski, it's not ****ing hard. Stop supporting them what they do (some of you... who've never surfed tripple over head Ulus, for example and need a jetski need to pull ya head in) and ... if they were real men, they'd be out the heads (like I go) and down to Garie et al, for the day... riding ocean swell and picnicking somewhere nice for the day. These guys are loser with no skill... just morons.

^^^ So because you go out through the heads on a jet ski you are a real man'??? I hate the stinky noise makers when they are used with no common sense, but what a stupid comment.

Johnny the term "cracker", haven't heard that in 30 years, takes me back to Eddie Murphy Raw/Delirious - made me smile......and I am a cracker

are we really that quick to lump all jet skiers together?
We as windsurfers tend to hate being stereotyped, and hate even more being associated with kites.
its a slippery dippery slope people. be careful.

+1.

That said, I am sure there is a dangerous use issue as has been described at some particular places by some particular individuals.

I always wonder what the public perception of jet skis would be if they were really, really quiet.....
