Rigged up kit in the park with 12 knots of wind. This was a great test for footstrap placement, mast placement etc. Sail was loaded up, got on the ski, feet in straps, hooked into harness. Everything felt perfect!! Stance felt great, uni joint setting felt amazing! I'm absolutely stoked on how this turned out. The real test is going to be when it snows! Can't wait to give it a go!!!

Wow!! We have so much snow now!! Gave the new windski a good couple days of solid testing. And all I can say is, I'm thrilled! This thing hauls arse. Footstrap settings, mast setting are spot on. I will track speed on next session. It already has a few sweet spots I've found. I have not yet pushed it too its limits, but will do so soon under the right conditions. Video coming soon!

Looking great, how steep can you go uphill? At what wind speeds?

I can go up small hills with a minimum of 20 mph of board speed and sail fully powered up with minimum of 12 mph of wind with crusty snow surface on 6.0 sail. We also have 2 soccer fields connected with a 7 foot drop off which I use to ski on, and acts as a fixed wave like you'd be surfing down the line, but you'd carve up and down this little hill. It's awesome! But if you want to mow the lawn, flat surface is the best.

This is a good down the line hill, when snowed over.

Admire you d.i.yers. I dislike rigging and unrigging in +5C temps. Probably would not like to in sub 0C. Does X-ply, Technora in you sails get more "brittle" in the colder conditions?

At one time was thinking about using the bi-deck snowskate or mtn. skateboard for wing snow use. Learn to fly a wing. Wing phase has passed. Some of the all mtn snowskate decks are longer than 130cm. Cut out a deck long and wide enough to add a mast base and foot straps. Use the snowskate trucks which allow the sub deck to flex like a ski should and go? Not sure what the mast pressure would do in messing up the flex profile of the ski.

I haven't noticed the sails getting anymore brittle in colder temps. But, sails can get scratched on frozen, icy snow, so I'm careful when I lay the sail down.

Very cool. How does it gybe?

Also does it need some kind of mini fin in the rear to stop it from "spinning" out, or is the edge of the ski enough?

It has a small little skeg, which helps with tacking, steering and spin out. When sailing up wind I have to lean the ski to windward in order for the windward rail to cut into the snow to eliminate any sliding. That technique works well!

I have not attempted to gybe yet. During the test run, the snow was extremely bumpy from snow mobile tracks. I'll wait to try gybes on clean, undisturbed snow.

Yes it was a good day! Still the snow was soft. This thing should be able to pull faster speeds on packed down, crusty snow.
