Seriously , if we could , just for a moment , I use and recommend ' Sallys Kwik Grip Horizontal ' for boom grip and deck pads . Never had anything peel off . It even sticks a 6mm high EVA V grip to the outside of the boom under my fingers area . 2 years of heavy use and its not thinking of peeling . The stuff sticks .

PVC pipe or inner tube.
Dude that's a lot of thought gone in too inner tubes!
What about using a 10cm section of inner tube as a sleeve to cover the middle join in the mast to stop sand getting in, instead of duct tape around the join ?
it would catch on the luff sleeve when inserting the mast.
Sally actually does a Vertical , its got less drip , I prefer horizontal , its easier .
Where are we going with this ?
Masking tape around wound.
Get some Eva boomgrip.
Cut bigger patch than wound.
Contact cement Eva to wound.
Apply tape compress until set.
Remove outer tape compress
Lightly sand to original grip height.
Ba Booom !
Wound Healed
Now get on with it!
A few years ago the boom grip wore away under my harness lines. I haven't done anything about it.
Just wondered do other people fix it? Patch it? Or just leave it be?

In addition to the worn grip around the harness lines, my severne had a large area on the left side with the grip gone. (Right side for some reason is still fine). Re-gripped with a piece of 40mm shrinking tube thingy www.amazon.com/dp/B08V19VSFQ? 95% of the work was scraping off the old grip, I used some paint thinner but still it took a while. Putting on the new grip with a heat gun takes five minutes (and is fun to watch!). I used no glue.
It looks pretty good, and it is a bit thinner than the original!
