Definitely going to take Jesper up on the offer to at least rig the Simmer on my mast and see. Getting some good suggestions too like Loft (didn't know they are all RDM) and even though Gator specifies SDM it work on RDM, never thought about Aerotech so thanks all![]()
Hotsails GPX 7.5 rigs on 430 RDM also, However I don't think Hotsails or Simmer will rig well on a standard constant curve. What mast exactly do you have?
^^ Might not help you as I doubt you peeps on the other side of the world have heard of it, but its a Hypersonic C60 RDM. It was an Aussie thing.
Quite old, by the sticker it looks to be made in Triana like many, so its basically the same as many 5-10 y/o RDMs.
Its CC, and works absolutely perfectly in my 2017 6.4 Gaastra Cross (first year they dumped the hard top and went to CC)
That's why I was going to go one size bigger in a Gaastra- but the two biggest sizes for the cross sail (6.7 and 7.2) specify SDM. Bloody stupid to specify the whole range on RDM then the biggest on the SAME LENGTH mast but suddenly it's SDM.
OTOH as sandman said his Gator says 430SDM for the 7.0 but his 430 RDM works fine..... I will just rig one and see...... One Simmer, one Gaastra, one Severne.... ![]()

Ah, yeah well I would stick with Gaastra, Severne, North, Sailworks. Especially the ones that switched from Hard top still seem to prefer a CC that leans that way. CC is a fairly broad term still. I think the Simmer or Hotsail rigged on that mast will be sub optimum & you will end up with a heavy handed sail that lack the top end designed into it. You can always test rig the Simmer but my guess is it will not have the draft down low & the leech will not open as progressively as it would with the flexier top mast it was designed for...
NP Ryde HD every Ryde rigs on a 430 from 5.5 to 7.5 so 7.0 Ryde HD maybe? Freeride sail may not suit your wave sailing but is my go here in Sydney to get wet.
Although not perfect, I've been rigging up an '18 GA Hybrid 7.2 on my 430 RDM with a long extension. I've tested it on a SDM 460 and there is certainly a difference. But, I flail along anyways, so it's not too big of concern for me
