IMHO. There is no such thing as the 'best board'. It's a list for OCD people who just like/want/need lists.
The best board is the one you are riding and really having fun on at any moment in time. Period!

I'm guessing they had a bunch of people vote for their favourite board, and made a list of most popular favourites.
People tend to associate all the happy feelings with their first planing experience, or their best fast but controllable board, or in waveboards maybe the one that planed for them early but also turned and handled DTL as well as onshore etc etc .... so looking at the top of the list they are certainly the 'classics' that get mentioned here a lot
Imo complete BS as not one Tabou board mentioned, particularly the legendary Rocket!!! Also missing the Starboard Kode which I've heard many say is one of the best crossover boards ever made!

Yes, the Bic Bamba places above the Mistral Equipe II and Bic Hard Rock way over the Mistral Explosion.
Once you start looking in the middle, there's just so much WTF going on, it's useless.
yeah pretty meaningless list.... some of the boards listed are significantly different designs through the years.
agree the kode should be there and the rocket. but they changed designs as well,

I second this! The Rocket and the 3S would have to be in this! Based on a survey from a country where you can't buy Tabou?
From the looks of that board list there's a lot of windsurf crew with their heads firmly in the past.
Plenty of crap boards in that list compared to the modern stuff.
Admittedly, I'm speaking as a young, energetic sailor
21 Mistrals mentioned and the Screamer takes 1st place - sounds legit to me. Because your favourite board isn't mentioned, that doesn't mean that the list is bullocks.

The list mentions 3 different Screamers but my preferred one is the 2004 model - 116 litres. Best board of all time...for me.
The "best board of all time" should have been the windsurfer one design, without that nothing else would have existed.
I've been windsurfing since 1982 and have only riden 2 of these boards. I wonder who did the survey and when and where it was done? The list has been scanned from a magazine, so it's probably sometime in the naughties, hence the complete absence of any boards made in the 10 years.
List compiled most likely by kitesurfers for windsurfers.I suggest revange by setting now complete list of the best kiting gear.
That one seems for me to be fancy enough !
and the most important match any kiter shorts or strings...
all they need is to match color of the board
ok, put into perspective.....all these boards are de tuned pop outs made for the hungry wanna be masses that craved to be Robby, Bjorn, Anders etc and they were fecking fantastic for recreational windsurfers to enjoy blasting around on their home waterway.
....The local in tune custom guys in every country were turning out glass then epoxy stuff that shat on the fat bobbing bloaters in this list.
p.s. the windsurfer one design should always be number one

I still own (and occasionally use (1 as a simulator)) the top 3! Suspect this list was compiled a long time ago.

the reason the boards on the list are so cheap is because......
So any list like this is always gonna spark some debate, that's a good thing.
I find it interesting, I've had 6 of the boards listed.
My favourite was the F2 Max2Air, not the best board of all time I'm sure, but probably because it was the right board for me at the right time.
That's a huge factor in judging what your favourite board was/is, when your ability, the conditions you sail in, and the board you have align.
Alright, let's not get our knickers in a knot over a very subjective list. I would hazard to guess that buying 50 boards is better then buying one brand new expensive lemon. Let's face it - we have different weight levels, different skill levels, different sailing styles, different sailing conditions that we prefer to sail in, different strength levels, different fitness levels etc. etc. Maybe we need 5 to 6 boards to cater for different conditions. The list only suggests older and cheaper boards that could be of use to the sailor willing to stretch his/her neck out to purchase a board they wouldn't normally look at.
