I'll bet your shop was Windance, and your stick-on leash loop is the NSI. I like those. When I was at the shop last fall they were out of those loops, so I went with the zip-tie bases and a couple feet of kite line.

Nice thing about the coated kite line (not the open braided stuff) is that you can tie and untie them many times without them getting frayed.

Are you speaking of the stick on loop gets frayed by having a larger diameter line leashed to it or the larger diameter line getting frayed? The way I have mine set up is, I tied a bowline around the stick on loop and tied another bowline around the footstrap. The only part I untie is the bowline around the footstrap. The bowline around the stick on loop always stays on.

I do that, too. The only thing I tie and untie is the end of the line that goes to the back footstrap.

Open weave kite line, or any weaved line, of course, will fray on the end if you don't tape it or cauterize it or superglue it. Coated kite line can be cut with a razor blade or sharp knife or wire cutter without fraying.

Magic's solution looks great. Yes, we should all learn the bowline knot.

Now let's go foiling. We are getting a strong south wind in the Tampa Bay area today. Woohoo!!! Being "stuck" in Florida from covid19 ain't so bad.

I burn the ends of all my line before I use it to prevent fraying. Another reason I chose a larger diameter line was so I could untie the line with ease. Have fun on the water today. I'm at work today, so no foiling for me. Tomorrow looks windy, and will get some tow in.
