I'm riding a Severne Redwing 1400 cm2 with an Alien 115 l, and I am wondering at what wind strength and sail size other foilers are choosing to change down to the 1000 cm2 front wing and is that extending your wind range?

Depends on the weight of the sailor. For me at 92kg, I need 15 kts to be powered up with the Alien 125, 1000 wing and 5m sail. I've used this combo comfortably up to 20 kts.

Thanks John, I'm about the same weight.

More than about 17 knots of wind is too much for me with the 1400 cm2. 1000 cm2 sounds good.

I've used the 1400 wing with the 5m sail in 15 to 20 kts as well. This combo also works.

I'm 90 kg and have used the 1400 with Severne FREEK 4.8 on JP Hydrofoil 133 in 20-30 knots, it works :-)
