I have received my kraken set.
I have put 4 washers like in the video to fix the Quick release system and it is well set with both my kraken head (Tuttle and plate).
I am really impressed by the quality of all the parts. Everything is well built and solid. The mast looks really stiff and way more stiffer than the phantasm mast.
The chord at the end of the mast near the fuselage is really narrow it must have a really nice glide.
Test tomorrow in 20 to 30 knots

What's the veredict?

On kiteforum a kraken user has found corrosion on the board mounted base plate due to not removing it for rinsing. He had been raving about how good the system was but has gone quiet now while hoping for some kind of warranty. Best to remove it after use and rinse.

Not a good idea to leave it on for 6 weeks and not washing it off with clean water. That user! I also wonder if he used the 4 pads that are included in the kit that go on the plate.

it is perfect
i use it for windfoiling with the 799 and the 399 stab. I leave the dtt mounted on my windfoil board. The mast is really stiff even in windfoiling.
For wingfoiling i have used the same wings with the 703 fuse. This setup is really easy with a good speed, good pop good carving.
I tried prone foiling with it but i felt to much drag. i was worried about this drag and was wondering if it came from the mast.
I bought a w1000 and a 370 stab... OMG this setup is the best i ever had for both prone foiling and wingfoiling. In fact the drag i felt came from the 799 wich is a bit thick. With the w1000 there is no drag, speed is awesome, it turns really well especially with the 370 stab (the 399 is not good for turning with the w1000. It totally locks the foil in one direction and it is difficult to put it flat after engaging a turn)
Tips out the water is not a problem.
the quick release system works good and i have no problem with it.
super happy for now!
quick video of dock start with the w1000 s370

Strange why they would add complexity and more parts to seize!
I don't think the average person has multiple masts?
I have the 107 mast and with a 2 bolt Tuttle connection which seems so simple!

For the manufacturer and retailers it's great, one set of masts to stock for all disciplines, just add a different alloy base fitting for wind, wing, surf or kite.

Guy that had the issue with the plate mentioned now that a carbon plate is available. I haven't seen it yet. Might be aftermarket. Maybe Groovekite has something that is not posted online.

For me the system is really good and save time.
Besides when you want to buy an other mast it is really cheaper than a classic carbon one because you already have the plate/tuttle head.

Everything is stiff, solid and there is no drag caused by the mast profile.

But if you don't take care of the aluminium parts, it won't last... even if there is sacrificial anode it requires a minimun of maintenance.
I disassemble and rinse every parts each week and i have no problem for now.

Here we go. Disregard my comment regarding possible carbon plate from Groovekite.

AUD$350 for the carbon plate, that's reasonable

Forged carbon, no woven fabric. Makes sense for such a part

Tuttle?

I don't think there is a large enough market for carbon tuttle. But you never know. And why not.

I doubt they could make it strong enough without the plate to spread the load.

Not really Kraken related, but the connection now supports larger wings. At least we can hope it does.

Has anyone done a test on the Kraken mast? Flex & Torsion. GlissAttitude was going to do a test, but haven't seen it yet.

If someone has experience with the 83 & 93 Kraken mast, please comment on the difference. Just curious if the 93 would handle the W 1100 wing. Or if a 100kg guy should opt for the 83cm mast.

Thanks.
