Hi,
I currently own a Moses Vento 790, with the Carbon Mast and deep tuttle connection.
I am considering buying the 1100 wing to extend range, mainly by having an easy an very quick fix if once on the water I realize that my 790 does not get me going.
However, since I have a deep tuttle connection (fixed foil position) , it will really loose appeal if I have to change all my foostrap positions whenever I swap my wings.
Can anybody comment on the foot balance comparison between the 790 and the 1100 ? Is it similar ? Is it realistic to just swap my wings and get back on the water ?
Thanks,
Max.
If you need more lift the 873 has it and it fits to the 900 fuse of the 790 kit you own. Do not know if the 1100 will also fit.

The 1100 has too much wing span for windfoiling imho.
I ride the M1100 for light winds and a M683 for higher winds, on a Wizard 105. Never change the foot-straps. Plug and play. ![]()
I think most riders need a foil wing "quiver". My gap in wings probably too broad and I am considering a 790 to fill the gap. Depending on where you live, 2-3 foils seem to be the norm.
Here is a link to a great Moses "suitability" chart. It's a one stop version of there tech insights from there website. THX SAILWORKS!

The 790 / 1100 combo is a good. I think the 873 is too close too the 793.
Watch the light wind Balz Muller videos, he does big air and tricks on a 1100.
The locals who have the 1100 seem to swap wings without a fuss echoing allesad's experience and all seem very happy with it.. It's a pretty impressive wing from what I've seen especially if you are bigger
Hi,
on a similar note regarding set up for the Moses 790, I found it very back footed when I had my first go on it last week. I mounted it on a JP Freefoil 115 that works perfectly with Infinity 76 or Lokefoil LK1 1300.
I moved my front straps and mast foot back but that would not do it. It was still not balanced and needed a lot of back leg / was hard to keep up in foil jibes
I then compared the position of the wing to the other two foils and found that the Infinity 76 in position C is 5.5cm further forward and the LK1 8.5cm. This was also in tune with the feeling of both wings: perfectly balanced for the Infinity and super powerful front footed for the LK1.
Anybody with the same experience on the Moses 790 ?
To fix this I have ordered the Tuttle to plate adapter from Moses to move the foil forward in the rails.
I am basically looking to replicate the very good man?uvrability in waves of the Infinity with a lighter (Moses) package
The LK1 I will use with larger sails in light wind.
very interested to hear about how some of you May have set up The 790 !

Can you change the rear stabiliser angle with a shim? Probably a lot cheaper and easier than a track mount. You will probably only need between 0-2deg angle change to balance it.
Indeed. I have 2 + shims and will try the thickest one. My concern would be reducing speed too much.
I ride both the 790 and 1100. When I switch to the 1100 and keep everything the same it is a little back foot heavy but not impossible. I slide the foil forward in the track 2" to restore the balance. There are shims available for the stab and I bet that will help for Tuttle users. I absolutely love the 1100 wing! It turns 8-10 knots into foiling time with a small sail!
Doubt it will affect speed much. All the race guys rely on adjusting stabiliser angle to adjust trim, and they are plenty fast!
Definitely experiment with the shims.
Sailworks' recs
790/450/900 no shims for most riders, heavy weight riders, or max low-end power run +1.0 degrees
873/450/900 + 1.0 to 2.0 degrees
1100/450/900 + 1.0 to 2.0 degrees
Thanks Paducah.
very helpful.
Dud not think of myself as a heavy weight at 81kg but will definitely shim the foil !
What does adding a shim do to the ride? Give a bit more lift and drag?
i have the 790 and I'm using a one degree shim. Very much a beginner so I'm not sure I can tell the difference since every time I go out my technique is changing (improving). I *think* I've noticed that my setup works better with 1 degree vs 2 degree shim. Haven't tried no shim yet.
As for the 1100, several locals got that wing this year and they love it. Bigger guys. Same boards they were using before with 873 wing and starboard wings.

Technically, it encourages a higher angle of attack for the wing - so more lift. If you are beginner, any added drag is inconsequential. I spent way too much time worrying about drag while learning. More angle makes for a more stable ride anyway; you have to place the CoG more forward and that makes fore-aft less sensitive. If you are powered up though, you'll have to shift weight a bit more forward to compensate - lean forward and place the back foot forward a bit.
I agree. I think the higher aspect big wings like the 1100, Naish HA and new Starboard Supercruiser wings are a step forward. Our locals like them, too.
Alright, I just received my Moses 1100 wing :) I am not that heavy (80kg) but not a light weight either. So if Balz can have fun on it in 6-7 knots , why couldn't I in 8-12. Let's see how it goes. Hoping it will make my life easier to pass a first foiling jibe!
@ Shmish : I have the 790 an even on a formula board, it was just fine without any shim. I did multiple tries with the 1 degree shim, always wondering until the last minute based on wind to help take-off, and all the times, I could not notice any real difference, so I stopped bothering with it. So I guess you should at least make a try without a shim.

Thanks for sharing, it really shows the speed range of the foil. He is going so slow at times. I love my 683 but I think I NEED a 1100
As a side note it also shows how he is easily able to balance at different speeds and wave riding by placing his feet in slightly differ positions
Wave riding he's more inbound (1:42)
More aft when there is less speed/lift (3:59)
More forward with more speed/lift (5:05)
Edges toward the rail when going upwind
Did someone tried the W873 ? Same surface as the 1100 but lower aspect ratio. In sailworks charts, it seems to have suimilar caracter as the 790, with a bit less freerace ability.

Hello, you feel that the gap between the 1100 and the 683 is too big ? I have the 683 and wonder which bigger size to buy: 790 / 873 /1100.
The 683 looks OK from 10-12 knots (depending on weight). The 1100 seems to feel the gap from 8 to 12 knots. What makes you wish having the 790 in between ?

Jmf1 - the 790 is bit faster and has more free-race capabilities than the 873, (per the chart)
The 873 has the same surface area (2100cm2) as the 1100, just squat'ier.
FYI, In the forum other riders have commented positively on the 790, I haven't seen any 873 comments.

Took an opportunity, and buying a used 873 to complement my 683. Will see hand on if (lot of) additional surface helps for 8-11 knts range and a light guy like me (65 kg).
I have a Moses 873 and some mileage on it.
It's much slower than my Aeromod Freerace foil, but not really draggy, still some speed in it.
Lift decreases with increasing speed due to the inverted wing tips.
It has ton's of lift, two pumps and it's flying and keeps flying until standstill.
I'm using the 873 as soon as i see the chance of riding some waves, be it chop or swell. It's perfect for this, as it doesn't outrun the waves with it's slower character.
For pure flatwater i only use it for winging, for windfoiling it's a little boring.

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know. I will give it a try. On my place (Etang de Berre), chop comes with wind. So in target conditions, it will be flat water. However I will switch to 683 as soon as possible.
Maybe the 1100 or the 790 would be less "boring" on flat water 8-10 knts conditions...
Not so frequent to see owners of Aeromod foils :-) French ?
By the way, with which combo do you use the 873 (mast / board) ?
JMF
I liked the one-armed jibe at 6:50.
He makes strapless look like a great default. I think I will remove the straps from my formula board so I can foil with both freeride and race foils without having to adjust things, other than where I stand. Nice.

With that music track, was surprised he didn't have a lit Gitanes in the other hand. ![]()

I guess you'd have even more fun with the 873 some kilometers further, in Carro with some swell.
I was there 2 weeks ago on my way back home from Portugal to Germany, where i live.
The Aeromod is one of the finest foils made in France, you should try it one time, just 350 km from your place to the Lac de Ganguise, where Alexis lives and develops his foils.
Most of the time i use the Moses with a Goya Fringe 6.3 or Banzai 5.7, on my 4in1 Board.

Really nice looking board :-) those multi purpose boards are really appealing.
I have to get better at foiling now and consolidate my the basic skills. Once more comfortable, I will try places with more waves (Carro in small conditions, Sausset, Fos...). Lot to do in a 50 km perimeter.
But may have to look for a shorter mast. Have a 105: good for chop, not cool for waves if not too much water depth.
And Aeromod foils are really nice. Have to try the v2 version. Well crafted, nicely priced, good range of wings...

Hi Alex, can you specify 4 in 1?
Does anyone know if the moses 790 front wing will go on the slingshot gw. 101
Has the 683 at the moment and i would like a bit earlier lift and light wind capability.
Ratz
I was going to buy the GW 101 good deals to be had around here,as far as I know it won't fit you need the newer 900mm fuse that fits the 790 All that you can use is the mast and maybe rear stab. wing also moses does not make that tuttle mast with the flange anymore it fits all the slingshot boards with the chinook tuttle.

No Idea Ratz but I'll be home in about 3 weeks and will have the 790 if you can wait to try ?
