Edit, edit - black sail and helmet had me thinking it was you for a bit and wondering when you got the racier board. ![]()

LOL
Also wondering if the inboard front straps make it easier to do the step last gybe?
imho, yes. For me, outboard straps make the position awkward to step last and my body just has a hard time doing it. If it's a wide board with outside straps, it goes from hard to pretty much impossible. OTOH, the style I'm accustomed to favors outside straps because I enjoy long upwind legs so I can have fun on the way back down. I still want to get better at that kind of jibe though to add to the toolbox. Thirty years of doing nothing but step jibes isn't helping.
That is for me as well, when doing step jibe my front foot remains far too long in the straps and passed the timing it is very difficult to take it of and I ruin the flow of the jibe and the balance alltogether. I find that a strap more traditionally oriented towards the nose of the board is better than the foil position more aligned with board centerline for upwind stance, I feel I have more room for error. This is even more so I guess (never tryed) when doing rig flip first and then change foot, I think would be very diffcult to take the foot out of the straps once on the new side going switch stance with a board that is 76 cm wide (but yours is not narrow either).
