I think its to far down the track for Laurie do a back flip and have a dedicated all disaplin foil section.
Some guys kite and kitefoil and SUP foil some SUP and SUP foil while a few are venturing into windfoil as well.
Some use the same foil for all 3 - woops 4 counting prone short board foiling.
The foil is the common element and experience.
Some facts:
Many have stated its like learning all over again.
Foiling is mostly surfed in different conditions and is different in almost every way.
Some say its like mowing the lawn - try mowing the lawn on one leg.
Some say I'll never foil.
Foiling should have its own section on SB.
I think there should be a separate Windfoiling thread in the windsurf section.
Windsurfing should have another section headed Raceboard ( this is not slalom race) as well. That could cover Long Raceboards and WIndsurfer LT
(the best selling windsurf board in Australia of 2018).

Not a foiler, but in favor of it having it's own section, one reason is because it's been around much longer than Kite foiling, or SUP foiling, or surf foiling. It has seniority over those other forms of foiling, if for no other reason.
It would be great to be able to go straight to the foiling threads rather than sifting through other subject matter. And having all the threads together from the beginning sounds sensible.
And big THANKS to Laurie for looking after this site.

I am not a foiler but you can be their messiah. The leader not just a follower.
There are many and more foils for sale on the "buy and sell" here so this is a growing market and makes a lot of sense commercially too. Could this be the world's first separate windfoiling thread in a comprehensive watersports website ? Laurie and seabreeze, the worldbeaters, always ahead and in front, the premiers, leaving other watersports websites in their wake.

Maybe just change " windsurfing general" to " windsurfing foiling" , as there is not many posts these day on the old style of windsurfing, its all about foiling which is obviously the future to keep windsurfing alive and maybe see some popularity return to the sailing sport.

The Tasmanian Kitesurfing Forum has generated an average of one post a week and about 1 new thread a month over the last two years so the standard to qualify for you own forum is pretty low. I figure that a quick name change is hardly going to be noticed by anyone or alternatively just start to use it as the windsurfing foil forum and accept that there will be the occasional kitesurfing post ( no different to the general windsurfing forum). ;-]
Laurie only sees a small number of threads because we tend to focus our posts on a few main foiling threads.
and as for numbers wanting it maybe add together all the previous threads asking for a Windfoil section plus even earlier ones asking for an all discipline foiling section.
I think it is funny
a few windsurfers invented kiting for something different to do now and then.
Then kiters 'invented' foils to do something different now and then..... not realising they copied it from windsurfing c.1985
So now windsurfers have copied their illegitimate lovechild sport that copied them, and that makes it all new again.
So new its the future.

So I'm with Stu - Laurie make a foil forum for the same reasons you created Heavy Weather - so the normal people can opt-out and not have to hear about it ad nauseum 
(OK I jest I'd have tried it by now , but for reef and craypot lines here......)

Laurie save time and just make a dedicated Foil forum (hate to liken it to 'Heavy Weather' but thats sort of the idea) for all disaplins.
'Foil' is the common element not what one is on to foil - many use the same foil for different allround enjoyment.
Even shortboarder foilers may mature and bond - joking
I'd say Laurie is busy working on the new foiling thread in the Windsurfing section. I guess there is not long to wait now.. foils aint foils until they are separated out from the rest. This is the way of the SUP and Kite threads so Windsurfing follows. I note the kiters have a "The Hookup" thread I guess Laurie has branched out into a dating site as well for kiters.
Looks like Laurie has won as not enough interest.
I kitefoil as well so mostly not too serious for me.
Just would have been nice to have a common foil forum.
