Forecast for wed is 10-12 ft, good winds.
Do you reckon they would move to North point. Wsl site says it's an option.

It would make a mockery of 'world's best surfers in the world's best waves' if they don't...

however, listening to the morning show this morning, there was no mention on Nort Point.

North Point won't be that big I wouldn't think. 10-12 on the open breaks. I would like to see the pros dealing with solid Margies rather than 6-8 NP.

Pfft. Just checked the forecast. 4 foot NP. That's not even worth considering. I could surf that.

The forecast has been revised back a fair bit hasn't it!

And winds are now looking bit dodgy.

Those WSL clowns have got the hype part down pat...they were talking about 8'0s and 12-15ft Mainbreak this morning.

I picked an 8'0 up last week. Maybe I can charge a few hundred for a days loan?

You could clean up!

I betcha the brazzos won't have come prepared.

Toleda may be struggling a bit out there on his 5'9.

It's going to sort the men from the boys.

Can't wait to see some good beatings.

Everybody's looking at the swell coming late next week. Wait till they see whats coming up behind it!

When i think 'world tour' i want to see deadly barrels, super critical rail to rail surfing and MAN TURNS.

I am so sick of the usual suspects on tour sitting wide or on the inside, picking off small little runners and being given big scores for 2 snaps followed by a little punt and a big claim.

Last years conditions were pretty crap apart from the session at the box. At least this year there is a decent proper SW ground swell forecast (last years event was mainly S swells and the left was way too fat). Even if it doesn't get huge it will be pretty good by the looks of things.

The Spartan would be licking his lips at the forecast, one of the best rail games going around atm, in big surf still goes hard at it.

Be interesting for one of the pros to say its a b grade wave at 12foot on a sw swell (hitting the surgeons table) at that size in cold water it's at it's best. I can't wait to see it proper big bottom turns and commited drops.....

I hope the forecast holds for Saturday. I will be in carpark at dawn with my 8 footer for hire. I have standards though. I won't hire it too any Zillas.

Yep. For out there it can be. One of my local shapers has a 12 foot board stored in his shop and photos of the board being ridden in beautifully bright blue sky Margies Main with a light offshore and a ruler edged swell hitting the reef....

except....

The board looks small on the wave. Like really disturbingly small. The stuff of my nightmares small.

So yup, 8 foot? Still short. Heaps of room to move up the scale.

I just want solid Mainbreak rather than North Point. Granted NP is an awesome wave we've just had 2 right hand point breaks with Jeffreys Bay to come - their is no other wave on the Tour like Mainbreak - big / shifty / powerful lefts. Tahiti & Cloudbreak are different beasts all together.

After 2 events with ordinary waves its time for some solid challenging waves in challenging conditions

It will be funny watching the kids on their 6'1 "step ups" trying to paddle into a 10ft bomb, offshore breeze holding them up & over they go.

What about towards the end of a heat, they slide to inside for a smaller one - then get clobbered by the clean up, bail as the white water hits, leggie /& board snaps. Jet Ski unable to come to get them for a couple of minutes. I'm giggling just thinking about it.

Like Big Kev called - I'm excited!

I agree big margs will be pretty entertaining. I reckon they are talking the swell up a bit to much. Forecast conditions look great though so giddy up.

They are talking it up big, lets hope it holds for an all time event.

Does anyone have any news on the trials today

I agree Captain, they're saying between 10 and 20 feet. I can't see anything like 20 feet looking at the charts but I hope I'm wrong because it will be entertaining.

Clare Bevo won the women's trials on a Jake Patterson shaped gun. Not sure about the blokes though.

Mate watched some today and he thought Jake schooled Jay Davies with smoother lines and more power in critical parts of the wave, but it seems the judges privileged Jay's aerial act. Shame. Jake could have caused some damage in the main event - he was always a threat in waves of consequence and had an enviable record in those waves (Pipe, Sunset, Margies, Jbay).

The fine print on their forecast says '10-20 feet face size' - they love every opportunity to embellish
