Legion you in or what?

You seen the weather report? Not worth a trip is it? A few local spots might be OK (local to me that is).

ok tell me if im getting a little sensitive and im looking to deep into this...

Saturday Inji point, 4 out then me and my mate, small 3 ft light onshore, the four guys already out paddle in then two others paddle out.

My mate gets a wave, I get a wave. The two other guys slot into our spot.
The two guys get the next two by the time we paddle back to the take off spot.
then a lull in waves. (by the way, they werent the best surfers so I doubt they were locals)
Two guys paddle straight back out, sit deep and further out than us WTF?
they catch the next set of waves
Lull
they paddle back out and it is a vicious cycle this happend 3 times and thats when I snapped, I hissed and called them snakes
This got a reaction as they let the set of the day come through and I caught it back in since my stoke had been stolen

Monday Cott
1 ft, clean 6 girls learning to surf on the right, SUP and long boarder on the left.
I grab the 6ft single fin that thats 3" thick, should keep up with the long boarder
Suns out, im fully stoked to have the place uncrowded
I pull up say gday to the two guys who are Italian and I give the first wave to long boarder then the next to SUP dude

Long boarder (LB) paddles back and catches next wave, I didnt think anything of it
SUP dude is to deep every time and is of no importance.
LB paddles back this time on the outside of me, sweet he's going to give me the next wave
Wave comes and the ****er paddles for it while im paddling for it WTF
this went on for about 5 more waves till I said to him "mate you dont have to catch every wave" he gave me a blank stair and caught the next wave
This happend a couple times more till I gave him a retarded groan which put him off and he retired to the beach giving me the finger hahaha SUP dude shrugs his shoulders and paddles off.

I feel like a bully, and think if I was in the wrong when another LB paddles out sits inside of me and catches the next wave, he is old and fat and is unfit or a learner, I give him the benefit of the doubt and wait for the next wave. LB then paddles back out and sits infront of me and paddles for the next wave!!!!!
I stop paddling and as he goes past and yell "you going to share these waves or what?"
I catch the next wave in, Stoke gone....

Am I wrong to pull people up on manners, or is it dead?
They were mellow waves, suns out, first time in months and pricks think they're on the WCT. The rules need to be put in place at every surf spot I reckon!

your not robinson crusoe mate, it happens a lot of the time at most places. Sounds like you are having a bad run though, maybe try places where the takeoff shifts around ie beachies

Torch

you said both were Italians...

Italians in the water = no idea

there are lots of surfers out there (euro and non euro) who think - when you see a wave you have to catch it (the non euro ones tend to be noobs).

there is simply a lot of ignorance in the line-up these days.

surfing sure aint what it used to be.

...and your good to pull people up. I do.

I sympathise with you. happened to me last week. it was an inconsistent swell with plenty of lulls between sets. these four guys, all mates, dominated the lineup and took turns catching every wave.
I think the days of sharing are gone. I hate to hassle and it takes the fun out of the session if you have to fight constantly for waves. unfortunately for me, this means I miss out on a few waves.

Yes it was a good session, pitty we had to leave when it was still good. Pretty sore today thou, must have caught 50 waves.

BTW, sorry for the blindfold for the trip to the launch site, you know secrets and all that.

Had a look at my local and another everybody's-favourite in these conditions. Period too short (duh) and waves washing into the back of the one in front. A few guys getting occasional nice turns but mostly hard work. If I'd had my board I would've had a shot but couldn't be bothered going back now. The everybody's-favourite was smaller (duh) but better. Almost clean and only three out. The usual spot not really working but sort-of banks down the beach in front of the carpark, which is where the three were. Could be worth keeping an eye on the weather over the weekend, we'll see.

Really not happening today. I had a long (1hr) watch at my local and a 1/4 hour at the other place and neither was any good. I went to the other place hoping for smaller but cleaner and it was both, but not lining up through to the inner banks at all. So I thought bugger it, I'll go out at my local and went back, and it had gotten much worse in the short time I was away. Lots of people had come in so it wasn't just my imagination. Maybe it was best early? Not now, that's for sure. So I gave it a miss.

Sunday: Went for a ride along the coast 3-4pm... looked like it was 3/4 towards a LAGO... still a little wonky... Low tide was ruling some reef breaks out with the high points of the reef about a foot above water. Lots of weed up towards the Nth Beach area...

Trigg and Scarbs looked the pick... but very much RPRT (right place right time) and no one seemed to be getting anything special... Metts rights were busy, but almost a complete close-out... Toms was so-so...

Mate was heading out further north... but said it was still wonky but he just wanted to work off his Father's Day lunch...

Took the meyerhoffer out near dutchies, caught a few fun ones. Was mostly just desparate to get wet after after a week of no waves.

Had a midday sesh at Cott...the same old agro crowd out along the groin claiming every wave and kicking their board into anyone who got in their way. Still got a few but yeah...not the mellow surf I was hoping for.

Came back for an arvo/evening sesh at Leighton. There was a few to be had and not too many people out. Nice way to end a week long study break

Sad to come home to the news though.

Was this at Cott mains too?
Cause there always seams to be a group of about 4 guys who hog the crap out of the waves, block others off and only share the waves between themselves and are quite aggressive. Bloody good surfers too. Total wankers though.

There are always four or so in the dominating pack, but they rotate among about twenty or more people. What do you expect to happen? It's a single peak that only breaks occasionally and is always crowded. There are very good surfers who call it home. Should we share with every blow-in who wants to claim a set? Watch the groms who are local - they'll inherit it eventually, but for now they're happy to spend their time lower on the ladder taking all the scraps. After 10 years or so they'll be with the main contendors. So it takes a long time before you get that right.

Nup. not Cott main break. this was at one of my favourite places where i have been going for 20 years. The day was uncrowded and there was little need for hassling or domination. I guess some people are just naturally competitive and discourteous to others.

Good luck if you're talking about rocking up to tearooms.

I went and had a look today with high hopes. And it sucked. 0.8m apparent swell translated into barely rideable. I saw a set or two and it was struggling. There were a half dozen people out and that was more than it could handle. Gave up and went electrical supply shopping instead.

Trigg was rippy and messy from the point to the end of 2nd's, 3rd's was OK but considering the swell and frequency I thought it would have been better.

Synoptics are looking not bad for later in the week. Desperate to get out. Doctors orders, no surfing for at least a week. Bloody KOed myself in the water and nursing a nice concussion. Horray.

But it's okay....nothing like being nursed by a beach bunny haha
