Phhhhhhhht hoped against hope that only I had seen the surf 4cast and went north( at least as far as we can go north) and didn't bother getting wet..70+ out and guessing a touch further north was same if not worse, hot footed it back to close out circus Got a couple of tails but most didn't even register as waves on the GPS watch when you are in mid air back hand barrel stance and getting slammed 3m from take off point
paddled 9km for 7 registered waves at a Fanning like 14clicks/hr longest wave 35m
Magnificent day on the coast though....ahhhh "Lockdown" West Oz style No wonder people of the world are jelly of our lifestyle, maybe not our surf options but lifestyle yes.

Should have surfed out in front of Pat "Voltes" house, was less busy apparently. I'll surf a few breaks to the South tomorrow where I was last week. Mate you saw me chatting to yesterday finishes his roster today, he wouldn't surf with 1/2 that crowd. Thats mental for here, never seen people parking up the entrance rd like that before.

Mid April and the swell is as small, and the banks as straight as mid February...
Crowds along the Trigg stretch ridiculous for the conditions. Did not see a single wave at 2nds/3rds and further South that had any sort of shape.
Back home to get on the bike and pedal a few kms...
Worst year ever for Metro weekend warriors!

The full-time unemployed left no scraps for us essential workers again this weekend. Lest we forget.

Wasn't too much to get excited about mate.
25m rides max usually >5m
However something is happening now and over the couple of days....should be good just in time for Essential work again

That's what I mean. It was largely garbage and still the hoards couldn't stay home.

First surf in four weeks
I got up super early went to the closest wave ( second closest technically ) from my house, couple runners and a lot more straight ones

felt good just just to get in the water and roll the arms over , really only snared 2 good ones in an hour but one was an absolute little tub in and out.

By 715 there was another 6 out by 730 10 ...

Called it and came in

Yeah After yesterdays offerings I chose to go further afield and was introduced to an uncrowded and relatively unheaving beachie that I've only ever driven past. Still not without consequence. Fun was most definitely had. Mayhem and carnage witnessed on the return drive spot checks too. Oh to have a decent video camera on hand. I could have scored epic kook footage yesterday as well.

Come on you plebes, cough up your reports.
I 'scored' my second favourite metro reefy with 60 odd of my bestest buddies this arvo on the building swell. Nice conditions, but there weren't many rides that the crew could have been proud of. I had identified my little spot but was inundated after about forty minutes. I'd not observed social isolation with a chunk of rock at the 30 minute mark so wasn't too concerned about my new bestestest buddies appearances, and came home to soak my frail old bones in a hot bath... with a nice cold cider.

Took my 9,4 mal out to Barney's at point packed
surfed it by myself for an hour and a half
70 metres away was a crowd of 30.......
scored two from Barney's through to the beach with about another dozen waves of varying quality
Two others lurked their way over and I also surfed one wave with the seal which was pretty epic
some dude trolling lures got a salmon of a kayak

got one and stepped off on the beach and called it, couldn't believe all the humans didn't swarm me during my self isolation on the reef
i give it a 8/10 as I've only surfed three times in a month or so and I actually put a few turns and nose rides together forgotten what the joy of surfing actually was

mate went to Yanchep reckons the crowds were beyond disgraceful

Old man back/hip has rendered me surfless this week...hope it is better by next weekend

checked out cams to "punish" myself...it seems there was sort of some banks locally, maybe upto 1 in 10 waves with shapey bits as opposed to last weeks 1 in 30

i'm skeptical Tues/Wednesdays will be enough. Needs one of those solid 4-5 dayers of repeated NW-W-SW patterns to really get stirred up. Hopefully pre-June

Been getting wet around northern reefs but opting for onshores, constant rips and more foam under me to try to avoid the plagues and stay sane. I wish soft tops hadn't been marketed and that gyms would re-open

The council closed the beach access for us (building new lower stairs and walkway) and that had me hoping the numbers would thin a little. My god i have never seen so many people rock hoping, falling, slipping and jumping fences at once.

Rangers turned up and ignored them all, but kicked out our local homeless guy

Swell had jumped up overnight and waves were too straight, or a little further down the beach "Steep" for this little old man..Still cleared the sinuses..

Still here Buster. Still surfing and hating it.

mocha1 despite many years of ridiculous forecasts I have never, ever, ever seen waves bigger than about 6' locally. Every time there's a forecast of 5m or whatever I get non-surfers commenting how big it is going to be and how dangerous and it is never even close. Even 6' waves are rare and brief, generally only occurring at the height of a storm with very few people seeing them. How do I know that? Because I'm often surfing them with a mere handful of people who I know reasonably well. E.g. last October the last big north storm of the year there was only two of us out. That was the biggest swell I saw last year. Odd 6' sets at about a 10 second interval. I got smashed because it was after about a 3 week lull so I'd lost paddle fitness. The next day was almost flat.

This will be a fizzer. Needs days of north, as the others have said.

Some time in the 70's I remember seeing the "The Cove" at plus 6' about 5 guys out solid as but don't remember anything really sizey from that period other than Rotto.
