Bretto must of hit a nerve if Yews had to register just to make this his first comment

He's already changed his name . When I first read it he was something dog and his profile pick was of some crab riding a fat left. I bet he secretly owns a foil

I've seen a foil a bunch lately too. Aqua board. The rider has gotten a lot better but I still cringe every time he takes a wave in proximity to other people. Wondering how long until he chops someone in half.

How can people foil and not hit the bottom, i hit a rock with a 7" single fin yesterday..

After driving to Lano (needed to go to ledge for work) finding it blown out, headed back to a local Northern metro reef. Finally had my drought of waves broken and was very happy to get wet. Mind you the arms are weaker than ever and thats saying something for me..

Took me a few hilarious moments (for the onlookers) to get out on the rock ledge as i was too lazy to paddle 50 feet down the beach, but still happy to have got out, and not too badly burnt..

I thought I had had a bit of fun this arvo in the mediocre slop, then I see the carnage in Qld and feel all underwhelmed... Us Perthians are like the Ethiopians of the surfing world.

So my son and i had our first go at Aloha SUrf. I say first as it was cool, a bit different but really enjoyable. Cant wait to get back again.

Just the two of us and it was an interesting workout..

They have started playing with bigger waves, had it up around waist high yesterday testing and today for the public.

I had a few passes bought for me by my sister for birthday. But they are $45 for 30 min

They can have up to 12 people at once, but as i said it was just my son and me.. 6 would be a good number as you'd get a rest..

Its a laugh for sure, but a few guys i have seen are absolutely smoking it..

it is fun and recon need to have a few goes on smaller waves before stepping on the 6 footer and getting owned in front of a crowd...
Some guys yeh seem to pick it up quick. I could get on wave fine and stand there but struggled getting much of a turn in.
You need loads of back foot and need to keep low and really kink ur back leg knee inwards.
Seems to do turns really have to be aggressive and over turn almost with shoulders and weight of back foot. some guys just going left to right of pool with big rooster tails.
recon after a couple of goes be ok. Then prepare for larger, was probably only between my knee and waist but fine to have fun on.
Funny watching ur mates face planting.
Agree, 4-6 good numbers and try and get even numbers of natural/goofers.

I think hats off to the guy for putting his nuts on the line, would not have been cheap to set up.
More fun than going to the gym or eating chips on the couch.
Go support him.
(i assume its a guy, if not thanks lady)

I found a small carve on my front hand easy, but much harder back hand, you really need to turn the shoulders..

The guys smashing it seem to almost bounce their weight of the board for the turn, very quick snap..

I actually think the bigger the easier it may be, so much back foot often found bogging and slipping over the back, a bit bigger ay be more forgiving..

Not sure.

Adam is the owner and he is an unreal bloke..It really does seem to be going great guns..

agree, bigger guy there after us was using weight and got it together pretty quick.
That being said was a guy that has clearly done it a bit was like you said bouncing from one side of pool to other.
Defo loads of backfoot, shoulder rotate and throw.

Surfed locally the last two days. Yesterday evening was actually a little bit of fun, today though i missed it and snagged the wind, shallow banks and i was happy to not hurt myself on a few silly 6 inch deep landings..

I was having a fun surf this arvo. The breeze was whipping up a few decent little runners at the local groyne... then one of the kite fraternity decided it would be a good idea to crash his kite right on me. And I mean right on my...kite to the head first, then tangled in his line. I had a few rather scary seconds thinking I was going to lose my head or an arm as the wind caught in the kite and it lifted off. Don't know how, but a bit of fate intervened and got out of it with just some abrasions and bruising to both arms, my back and my face...missed my eye by a mm or so.
Has this happened to anyone else? I can't be the only one. It could have easily ended very very badly. To make matters worse there were a bunch of small kids both surfing and swimming. What are laws regarding kiting proximity to surfers/swimmers? Disaster waiting to happen.

Floreat Groyne.
The kiters seem to be creeping a bit closer in each season.
Like everything I suppose, the rippers are OK but all you need is one kook...
Crazy thing was, his attitude was almost that it was my fault as he thought, because it was windy, the kiters should have the break to themselves...

Yes. I've seen them go through the flags. Not a peep from the silly bib-on-head fraternity...

Hey mate, I re-posted in the WA kiting forum.

Unfortunately kiting is easy compared to surfing and we get a heap of kooks and heroes. Glad no grommets were hurt!

Amen, been kiting for 20 years (and surfing for longer), the perception of ability is often quite overrated. The WA kitesurfing association has some guidelines which aren't exactly clear and don't get much visibility (see link below), but are a good place to start if you need to educate people... WAKSA (and hopefully 95% of kiters) are trying to do the right thing, hit 'em up at waksa@waksa.org.au.

...and on behalf of the rest of us... fkn sorry that happened mate.

AGREE WITH BENE AND JACK.
we arent all kooks, i been kiting since 99 and these days i cringe when doing a down winder seeing so many kooks just riding where they want, thru whoever and snaking everyone. user friendly equipment has made the sport become mainstream.
glad you werent hurt badly.
i hope he or she were very apologetic...

No, some of you guys rip the bag out of it. Envious as hell am I.
BUT, I've got guys, I remember their kites from past seasons, so must be local, down winding, then sticking to the crap bank that I've adhered myself to, just to compete for the scraps that I'm chasing. FFS, bugger off!
