has anyone tried those surfing sunnies?

My dad had them done. Best thing he ever did. Now he's cleaning his house like a madman now he can see the dirt and marks etc

Did they do multifocal IOL's or the single IOL OB ?

As a general rule most people don't need specs for distance or have a minor correction post cataract surgery, but still need some for near vision although depending on your requirements it is sometimes easier just to wear a pair of multifocal specs and be done with it as opposed to taking a pair of reading specs on and off a thousand times a day ,whatever you are comfortable with , not much point buying anything until the ophthalmologist says your eye has completely healed and settled down on average 3-4 weeks after the surgery but he will let you know
Some people are able to handle a combination of a distance lens in one eye and then a near lens in the other but i depends on what the surgeon had assessed what is best for you !
As far as surf sunnies there are a few companies that do them although they all have a slight tendency to fog a bit
and surprisingly enough i have found that polarizing sunnies are pretty tough to surf with as you tend to loose a bit of depth perception of the water surface on the wave as you ride along ,quick way to a coronary over a shallow reef as all you can see is the reef rushing up at you
i use them for kiting but to be honest despite the fact i sell sunnies the most effective one i have used is the $9.95 one piece lens safety glass from bunnings
drill a hole in the end and put a lanyard to your wetsuit or around your neck!
the other drama you have now is that all those pastel colour spandex boardies you bought before you had your eyes done are now fluro!
PM me if you feel the need to splash some more cash on the more fancy optical stuff !

Multifocal about the only thing I can recall him saying to me was that I will,see lights very differently at night, they'll be kinda more bright and dazzling, he reckons most people get used to it after a few months.

okay, polarised are definitely out of the question, I already do little poos in my wettie when I see too much of the reef at my local.

it's a pity they don't make disposables as sunnies, after a few years of wearing them, I've gotten used to the ritual of putting them in, and I would not have to use them on overcast days.

Hey bro I have prescription ones from silverfish in the states...they are the cheapest and the best prescription ones I have found....not really to many problems with fogging or water droplets I think its something you just get used to if you wear them day in and day out

Maybe now OB you'll be able to see me surfing past you on a cracker wave at Arra

fair bit of comment in here about sunnies some informed, some not,but interesting to note that you don't need any colour/tint in a lens to block uv light .
UV light is outside the range of the human eye to detect ,although it is primarily what does the damage !
All sunglasses that are legally sold in Oz need to meet the Oz standard 1067 which requires UV blocking

Thanks for all your input, especially you PH, I'm really enjoying the posts.

Bit of a milestone for me, 2 days out from the right eye op and I'm typing this without using my old reading glasses and closing my right eye. I might add I'm making lots of typos, but it's till progress.

Distance is still a strange sensation out of my right eye, everything outdoors in the sun has a pale blue haze.
