Some large unruly ones here on the open coast this morning. Found a nice semi-sheltered spot with very hollow 3-4ft wedges coming through. Shame it was a holiday morning and not a normal work day as there were 12 blokes out instead of 3 or 4 !

Well I arrived early at Snapper and young Chrispy was MIA. I hit the water pre dawn with the new log after young, after moving the 10" fin forward about 3/4" it changed the feel noticeably giving it the feel I was after. It was a good 2-1/2' with some 3' sets coming through early, made a pig of myself for about an hour then moved spots as the crowd increased. Overall a nice couple of hours enjoying the new beast, damm this thing is quick down the line!!!

Good to see you back out there Vanders. Second surf today was back to normal - 2 out when I paddled out and by the i caught my second wave was the only one out there. Some fun 3ft on the sets grunty reef break. Loads of shower fronts coming over every 20 mins. Weather is horrific here this arvo.

Re: crowds, had a chuckle at myself today. Surfing sweet little shoulder high beach peelers at Clifton, just me and my bro, and two others paddled out, at which time I was like, "mann, get'n crowdy out here"

Super fun session too

I bet it was good up your way though. SP would have scored today as well. Some nice waves here but not that good on the open beaches - a shame it was not a bit bigger for the slightly sheltered spots.

Got a few 3-4ft walls on a point here. Not as many as one would like ... a pack of sweepers invaded on "boats" ...seriously, you could have put outboard engines on them they were that big. Once they arrived other went and got there ship sized 666's ... those of us without just gave up.
Great surf ruined by those not understanding the term "line up". So many times the sweepers "paddled" into stuff they would never make and made it impossible for others to catch a wave as you had to avoid the HMAS Bismarck flying at you.
(Initially before the 666 arrived, the break had body boarders, SB and LB all sitting the same spot and giving each other the nod on waves ... was really chilled and very cool)

It really was a shame as the swell lines were reasonably consistent and if people could understand that, everyone's wave count would have been great

(rant over....swell is building so tomorrow should see them gone)

Had really fun gm with not that many out and the had a quick round two at burleigh...the crowd was worse there. Not bigger just more competitive for waves.

Even caught one near your shark net mac, paddling back and a wide one hit,not bad
sleep.for a.bit now,but a pretty good friday

So you learnt something today then, firstly the locals at burleigh, secondly wider is better and for the record there are no shark nets down south ,they are drum lines

Wider is not always better, but I got waves was a cracker.
thanks for clearing the drum line/shark net issue for me,I just don't sit that wide,so.cheers for the correction
I like burleigh, the crew are hungry, but most do know about etiquette, or they are soon taught. I like the place for that reason

I've met a few of the older boys from attending their single fin lunches over the years, you should go next year big day/night too much for me I havent attended one in 4 years,100 bucks all you can drink with good tucker and some great guest speakers,I heard on the vine the next one will be the 50th year black tie event with all the guest speakers over the years it will be massive.

and yes do the wrong thing there and you pay the price in or out of the water,no messing around type but top blokes.
