And yes, I'm a snob when it comes to coffee, deffinately no franchises and beer so that's a must...
Seems like South Port will be best for the kids... I don't surf if it's crowded as I don't like the vibe and that's against why I surf so I might leave the board in the rack and save that for a surf trip instead...
Currumbin zoo thingy looks a go too...
Thanks boyzzzz
cooly is a ****ing hole. more so if you have kids to entertain. it is a grubby ****hole of a place. nice for a coffee after surf on the esplanade...every other part of it is just decay with nothing to do especially if you do not have transport![]()
So you're not a fan ? ![]()

Chrispy is correct
Beautiful by day not so by night.
Southport is the best place for families full stop. The Broadwater parklands is awesome place to spend the whole day with family and friends. You can get to anywhere with ease as it is the centre of the coast for infrastructure and public transport.... which means SeaWorld across the pond and all the other theme parks have direct pick up from the centre. The aquatic centre is not to shabby either with the lovely Catalina cafe and bar so close to the water your toes might get wet(not to dissimilar to how ones feet ends up after walking through the filth that is cooly ,except ones feet will not be covered in **** in southport. Just lovely grass.sand and saltwater )
Nice day trip into surfers will keep the kids entertained with heaps for the groms and big Kids to see....
And cooly has the coffee club lol. What else has it got for families Mac?
As I said to Andy, no matter where he ends up there will be a breezer to help out if he needs it (we do it good on the goldy )...and if he wants to gossip and bitch head straight to cooly ![]()

I lived in Surfers for 11 years due to work and could not wait to get out of the sh!t hole my sister in law lived in Labrador in the 80's but its gone to the pack.
Nah I wouldnt know sh1t ![]()
Yep I would say you do live in a bubble mac if that's your view of the coast circa 2017.

Andy how old are your children? I reckon Cooley is a good option if you don't have a car. Maybe look at Calypso or Greenmount Beach Resort.
Pool, beach handy - Maccas close by for the post swim 50c ice creams etc. handy play grounds - if you can fit them take skateboards / scooters as it's dead flat with good foot paths
You can walk to verything you need for a couple of days. The main complex "Showcase" has supermarket, movies etc. Plenty of good coffee & places to eat.
Couple of Surf shops to look through.
Bowling Alley a block or so away on the Tweed side - great to keep the kids busy. Remember run the fight out of them. Walk up the top of Dbah hill for fish & chips.
Personally I would rather walk for 5 mins to go for early surf- ie walk to Snapper & drift down get out at Cooly / Kirra.
Agree stay out of Cooly late a night however I'm assuming you won't be out pissing it up till midnight with the fam around.
Southport - I have been working out of our office a day or so a week for past 7 years. Be wary of the ice junkies that hang around Australia Fair. Surf wise - does get good however you won't be walking unless you stay over on beachside.
Currumbin Sanctury will fill most of a day.

Well that's sounds ****ed if the only option for kids food is maccas and fish& chips, I'm going off to be sick now.
Steer clear of it all - other locations within easy travelling distance of where the bad stuff starts & far better for young groms in tow

Kids are super young, Charlies 3 and Lyla 10 months, they'll love Currumbin deffinately...
I was thinking more rainbow bay to snapper than Coolangatta end.
We don't do "fast food" so some cool non franchise coffee and alternate veggo/seafood cafes is more our vibe...
Still weighing up...
Hey team,
So at this stage we are looking at Spindrift which is beachfront at Mermaid Beach. Looks like a good spot for the kids and we can easy walk up to Broadbeach and jump on trams etc if we need to. Seems theres a reasonable beach break right out front.
We're looking at Broadbeach too but couldn't find beach front that wasnt a colossal resort.
We'll probably do Seaworld one afternoon and/or Currumbin Sanctuary then head to our Brisbane accommodation Sunday night.
Any thoughts/ideas before we book?
And if its on somewhere nearly i'd be super keen for an early morning greenroom surf/lunch beers so hook us up ![]()

Ha that's my area mate
