Crikey Ted between the build, travel and photos you even had time to shave that hipster beard off. Definitely not compatible with a 10 footer

Stu - the beard is still there - just had to do some trimming - had lots of meetings this week. Have a few weeks holiday coming up so might see if can get a growth spurt happening Shame there is not a touch more swell to she might have been christened at your joint.

Fantastic effort Ted its a lovely looking board i love single colour boards it really defines the lines

Thanks Boofy - need to give Big Spazz lots of credit for drawing that to my attention as well. I am now sold on the one colour tints after flirting with multis in recent years. Its back to basics and clean lines as you suggest.

Been 4 to 6 foot here all week, though gone now. If your coming up I'll join you with my 10 footer. I actually think I own the biggest surfboard at our local. The blokes reckon I need navigation lights port and starboard.

yes I hear its been good everywhere - I have been stu(d)k at work this week. Looks like I have a terrible few weeks coming up as well. In fact from here until mid Nov looks terrible on my schedule except for 3.5 weeks - 1 will be spent in Pup/Mick land at a conference and the balance in Indo. Otherwise its hard for me to find a mid-week day spare for some action up at yours sadly. No doubt I will though

First surf this morning on some long small lefts. Surprised at the speed she gets. Very different beast to turn after a shortie - will take some getting used to. Very happy with the performance though - the heavy nature of the beast paid off in spades - makes it very easy to get into waves and to just push through the flat sections. Stoked with the board - had so much fun on a day I would never normally even go out in.Tried it with Macs fin - very fast - will try something with less rake and a bit more surface area next time. Just as I was suiting up for the second session the southerly came through so it was back home.

Well the board has filled that space in the quiver - 3 surfs today on a day that I would never normally even bother. And I got some crackers. I agree with ya there LL

Mac - I tried a big 10 inch similar to a Greenough A3 - a lot more upright than your fin but probably similar in surface area. She went a lot better - was much easier to turn and pivot on and even got some hang time. I have a banana fin to try tom. After that I will be done - so whatever fin is the winner by lunch time tom will have a job for life

That's the joy of the log, I reckon I have more fun in waist high clean peelers than overhead barrels these days. When I started riding a long board was when I truly started surfing and these days, I'll always go long over short

Yes indeed. I recall the first one I made - and it paddled and floated - that was a huge relief and stoked feeling. Infact every time I paddle back out after a wave on one of own creations it freaks me out. No better feeling in the world. Also great when the board cover and fin have also been made at home Just need to work out a leg rope and I am done - well unless I become a hipster

Actually I have never made wax before. Has anyone given it a crack before?

Thanks fellas. SP - away at the moment - will measure the tail when I get back to base. It's not overly wide. I did not measure it up - just hacked the end off the blank when I thought the tail had come in enough from the straight rails and I had the length I was after - very technical approach

I am not an experienced log rider but after 3 sessions she seems to do what I think a log should do - so I am pretty happy with her. She seems to have done all that I could ask of her to date - looking forward to spending a lot more time working out the idosyncrassies of such a board. She has a lot more volume than the 5'10 and 6'2" I normally ride Am loving the glide factor - just need to change my frame of mind and make sure I know that I am on a board where I need to telegraph what I want it to do well before its intended !! Several times on the weekend I was turning and moving well before the board was ready Its almost like I am learning to surf again. A great experience - with all the joys that come with it. I can see myself disappearing to a long right hand point break as soon as time and conditions permit.

Nice work Ted...board looks fantastic....if you want to ride a long right point I know one that is going to all time on Saturday....plus there are about a dozen others that are about to go into hyperdrive over the next week....you may have heard of them Bells, Winki and some others I won't mention
