Anyone tried or own one of these

What model is that?

I know Steve's go to is a Puddle Jumper and he LOVES it, just ordered a shorter version... I hear nothing but great reports back from my SB mates who ride any of Matt's boards...

That said... Too short for a mid though

I had a Puddle Jumper and it was one of the worst boards I have owned and surfed. Very very limited in what it did. No drive and I had to nurse the turns as it had no hold(loose and no hold are not the same thing). Owned it for two weeks, surfed it eight times and made $50 when I sold it as I had bought it second hand. I have surfed lots of grovel boards and this one sucked for mine. Lucky they are popular and people love them - it only took two days to sell (remembering I have sold only three or four boards over the years).

Then I got a Yahoo Kelvinator - yewww!

You still got the Kelvinator Drip?

I had a good look at the he Captain Morgen as well, really like the vibe of both of those.

Yes. Wicked board.

Disclosure: when I wrote the above i didn't work for them. I do now.

But it is still an awesome board. Fast. Forgiving in late drops and out of the lip - believe it or not.

Fast. Did I mention that?

What length you on and what fin setup?

How would you rate it against the Captain Morgan?

Wow really? Feel free to check out then. No one forcing you to read anything long winded or rubbish.

Seems you expect others to take your advice and opinions seriously. And heaven help anyone who dares not to agree with them.

For what it's worth I very much appreciate people taking the time to answer my questions and openly share their opinions and expertise.

Likewise I will take your advice and go surfing in about 7 hours.

Sorry if that was too long winded for your attention span.

I've not been a fan of the rolled bottom into v retro midlengths that the hipsters are so enamoured with.
I see Devon Howard has now discovered that a midlength can work well in smaller waves, go faster and turn better with the new CI midlength that has the tri plane concaves.

Same don't like rolled bottoms.
Concaves, 2+1, low rails and hard edges at the back is my preference.

The Kelvinators love lots of fin. I initially ran extra large FCS Performers at the front and large versions of the same fin at the rear.

I lost a fin and couldn't get any extra-large so I switched the large Performers to the front and put large FCS Reactors in the rear.'

I have tried the normal small Performer quads trailers in the rear and didn't like it.

I haven't surfed the Captain Morgan, but the bottom is quite different to the heavy single concave on the Kelvinator, so I imagine it goes markedly differently.

Vee is for guns or powerful waves I reckon. Otherwise, concaves of some sort for speed.

Hey m8, can you please ask Mark if he would be interested in restoring one of his late 80's boards & how much it would cost. I was going to take it to Bali this year to restore. But thought it could be cool to have the maker restore it if he was interested. Boards fairly straight really

So Hydroman has taken his bat and ball and left the field?
Bugger I was hoping it would eventually escalate to the usual "surf off" challenge that follows the surf forum differences of opinion.

LOL, epic PR reply, your good m8

Ok lets tee it up, I'd like to see you surfing rings around me. I'm working this weekend, but not next or during the week is fine after Wed. We'll ask a friend or 2 to judge each & even film/photo if your comfortable.

To make it interesting, I will only surf switchfoot on your board of choice provided its suitable to the conditions of the day. You can surf any board you like in any stance you choose provided the chosen board volume is not greater than the board you choose for me to use

Look forward to your reply

PS not salty at all, thanks for the banter its been fun

Have you seen the video of Greg talking about the design of the board which is a hand shaped one?
www.facebook.com/Webber.Surfboards/videos/new-diamond/10154986796674224/
The handshapes look nice and refined.
The epoxy ones are going to be good if you like the floatation of eps. I've had a few of the McCoys in the same XF eps/epoxy and they were light but strong. Much more responsive to surf than the poly McCoys.
I'd buy a double diamond without much hesitation if one came up in my dims nearby me.

Thanks CF,

Yeah saw just about every vid on them, talking and opinions is one thing, how it actually goes is another.

Only one vid of an old bloke thrashing around on one. Looks reasonably responsive, towards the end you get to see he's riding it as a twin with long flex fins set right back.

This was the board that I was originally chasing. But typically nothing around for months when I looked. Then as soon as I spend my coin 3 of them show up. Just my damn luck, misses said I could buy it but need to sell the CJet first.

Unfortunately that could take a while. And at the price the Webber is listed it could go quick.

Story of my life unfortunately.
