Do Queenslanders want the border open?? , just asking as the premier said Queenslanders don't want it open. I don't , but it doesn't effect me. I'm more about the country keeping people out.
Doesn't worry me - if it makes you feel all cuddely and warm, keep it closed.
If I was a Queenslander working in tourism I might have a different opinion.

Cuddlie and warm dont come to mind . Tourism has had a massive hit in years up here, so can't see a big difference. Peeps are more interested in bang for buck Asian holidays. Only thing that goes off up here are caravan parks with droves of cashed up baby bombers wanting a warm winter. But they don't spend much. I'm of the belief if we don't have infection and we can keep it like that well and good . Maybe more Aussies can enjoy their own state and spend that $$$ And love.
The only complaint is they let you ****ers out ![]()
..
It seems kinda pointless if qldrs can travel out and back in no issue but people can't come in.
Read somewhere it was mainly the Vic's they wanted to keep out as they still had new cases showing up. Not sure if that's true or not.

I was / am shocked at the caravan park / grey nomad market. Went up the west coast to Ningaloo Reef last year, and the number of 4wd / caravan combos was shocking. Coral Bay, where the reef almost meets the coast looked like the biggest caravan park in the world. Strangely there were hundereds of vans there, but only about 20 people on the beach.
Surely gold coast / schoolies / noosa is still a huge market?

I was going to reply to Cobba but your comment is spot-on with the issue/problem?/concern here on the WA coast as you have identified. Grey Nomads so HC with their cost cutting they have potplants set up around their van. Stocked up with supplies from their home base & not spending much on within the Mid to NW WA town they stay.
Part of me wants to say good on them for saving money when places are charging crazy prices but the other part of me thinks that suz if it prevents others from doing the same because spots are full.
I'm so not a pro in this field but from my pov I think they need to look at managing things in a way that offers incentives to spending locally. Providing bang for buck is a far more positive approach than restrictions & price gouging. You need to consider its a huge drive for most West Australians yet alone for anyone else not used to driving such distances.
It is an awareness of these issues that has caused me to simply jump on a plane elsewhere.

Mick spot on. True story, I met a boomer at golf three years ago that comes here for 4 months to leave the vic winter. He told me he has a group of seven at the caravan park . 1 buys the paper then passes it on after reading then the next Day the next guy In line buys Paper And passed on. He said if you're last on day seven it has egg stains and coffee stains WTF now that's how tight some are,+ he won't drink at the golf club he goes back to the park to drink slabs of cheap Aldi piss he brought from home . will we miss them,,, NO

LOL thats so fricken tight assed, I bet they have plenty of other crazy cost cutting tricks up there sleeve too.
Mate & I head to Margaret River a lot in the warmer months. We buy our beer/ice from the caravan pk we stay & food from the town. I could pretty much throw a few boards in the car, my esky, ipad & head down now coz all my camping gear lives in my car. I don't take anything else.
Would like a more Lux setup though, I've been watching a lot of van conversion videos over the last few months ![]()
My neighbour kept playing the same Lionel Ritchie song over and over full blast,,
I don't normally mind but it was all night long.

Interesting look at the amount of new cases etc...

www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-death-rate/
Cheers SP for the info. I did laugh at the under 65% death rate. What's the over 65 death rate, and what's the under 25 death . All will come out after the pandemic, after Vics little spike can't see qld opening the borders for awhile. Like other pandemics it was the second wave that smashed mankind.
So despite the kids being at home for all of the time during the lock-down the schools are still having school holidays!![]()

haha well the teachers need a break...in WA parents with essential jobs had children still attending school. So there were small class sizes that required supervision with the addition of online lesson plans & support. Teachers at my wifes school were calling parents to support the homeschooling.
Yeah Mick just saying...
some would say the teachers get it easy regarding holidays
l'm sure those who lost their jobs recently wouldn't be asking for a break now had they been fortunate to have kept their jobs through this period.
It wasn't that long ago people were worried about their little precious not having acces to the curriculum and would be half wits because the schools were being closed ![]()
Mind you hopefully people will travel within their state and put some money into the community
Qld borders not likely to open with esecknd wave in Vic

Yeah would suck hard to have lost a job completely. Hopefully new opportunities open for people....popular holiday spots in WA have been flat out since the WA internal boundaries opened. I'd hoped state borders would open by July, now I'm doubtful since the latest propaganda spike. Hopefully by the end of September ![]()
Just saw Trump joking at one of his rallies he wants to reduce testing coz they're finding too many positives lol & people were laughing...I mean com'on, we're still at 102 deaths in Australia. This BS needs to end. The consequences of the covid response are far more severe than the virus itself in Australia especially. We're only just beginning to see them & we're sadly going to experience those consequences for far longer than people give a sh1t about this covid hoax.
