Personally I thought some of the boys were a bit hard on the Laceman.

I know, I know, you may say if you can't stand the heat stay out the kitchen.

But we all have feelings and some of us may be sensitive. I know I am on some topics.

For what it's worth I miss his boards on BBQ's photos and his banter.

Well said ET. Couldn't agree more. I've even thought about starting a 'Fin Advice' thread just to see if I can lure the guru back to the fold.

Edit... Heads up to the WA boys, as this is the Heads Up thread... nice Clearwater LB in the buy and sell section at the moment.

Cheers. Much appreciated. I look there fairly regularly and there is never much on there.

Any CW experts know what model it is or is it just a general stock board? I have been thinking about a HP longboard for a while.

Probably don't need one, but need never stopped want.

Get back to me brains trust.

Seems generally fairly priced for a WA LB in good nick...doesnt appear to be a whalebone...standard issue performance, reckon it would be ok down South. Personally I'd lose the tail pad, hate em on LB's I know I know some like them but yeah whatever....keep a look on Gumtree Drip, a beautiful Sunover in new condition went for $450 in Margs a couple of weeks ago. I was tempted to drive down & grab it myself.

I hate tail pads full stop. If it ain't special I don't want it. Plus it has a tail pad. I'm lazy and would crack it getting that tail pad off.

I'm always of the opinion tail pads are only for boosting, not that I know. And if you need a tail pad to know where your feet are then you really need to surf more and learn our your board feels with different feet positions.

Thanks Mick.

If you can make your way to Gero, this bloke seems to be offering some decent boards at decent prices. Like a Mctavish for $320 & I really like the look of that vintage board for $750

That Mactavish in Gero is a GSI isn't it? And werent they all epoxy?

Not sure mate. But if it is, to me that just means its lighter & generally speaking stronger. My 10' Modern log was epoxy. Not as flexy to absorb the bumps, but LB's are never very good in bumpy conditions anyway. The lower swing weight makes it easier to throw the board around into foam rebounds & stuff...at $320 for a good condition board it would be pretty easy to pass on if you didn't like it

Thanks McGuane - I spoke with him a few weeks ago about this board. Tough pick up for me these days sadly - I would like it though. Been trying to work a few angles

oOps just ordered a new board, couldn't resist the sale price on a drifter I'd had my eye on for the last 12 months.

Should be a fun board for my local fat waves

ECS? Should be a great board. That sort of outline and bottom has been one of my go to boards for the last two years. What size?

Yes mate, couldn't resist $500 delivered for the eflex rapidfire kinda build...choosing the size was bloody hard. I thought about it for a couple of days.

I was always going to get the 6'10, but have since decided on setting 2 boards up with Smithy's shark repela. One good days board & one smaller days board (my whalebone)...so the 6'10 wouldn't have given wide enough wave coverage. So looked at shorter, was really considering all sizes. 6'10 would be great for extra glide, the 6'6 is super wide & actually higher volume than the 6'10 but I would have opted for the 6'10 out of those 2.

So was looking at the 5'10 & 6'2 which are also very similar in volume. 5'10 was tempting & luckily it was the size sold out when I decided to go with the 6'2. 6'2 feels like the best size for my stance on wide nosed boards....really excited, board should be good at my local. Just gotta work out if I'm going to reshape a centre fin to go 2 + 1 or go quad. I'm thinking probably 2 + 1. I met a guy out at Mids 1 the other year surfing a 5'10 board like this in triple overhead & going off on it. Much better surfer than me but looking forward to seeing how it goes in big steep waves too

Those drifters look super fun Mick. Should be ideal on that wave you have at home. Looking forward to a ride review and some Soloshot action

Will do mate...probably be a head cam with my go pro clone first. I still haven't had a chance to use it. Brought it to Europe to film flying down a mountain on a flying fox in Switzerland. It was closed on our planned day due to being too cloudy, have to be able to see between stations unfortunately. I will be back in Oz middle of next week & hoping for South winds, It will have been 6 weeks since I've had a surf...fang'n...nice & warm in Vienna today though 32c. Czech beer from tomorrow

The nano is going to a good home.
Stoked to have Ted/Kev back on a nano for Indo again.
