The green ute belongs to a mate of mine called Bruce, he's very pragmatic about it.
He says that when you're driving it, it's got, FX Brakes, FX suspension, FX motor, FX performance and FX interior, you should never be under any illusion that you're driving anything other than an FX.
I think he was trying to say that having an old car was a real commitment.

He's right about that OB. Although my VW bus is a 1989 model, you still have to realise that you're not going anywhere at 120kph, or up any hill over 90kph. Brakes are disc front/drum rear, but not brilliant. It takes all I have to keep with the traffic in general. Same as my 1982 model bike. No EFI, you have to hold the indicators on to make them stay on, 4 speed box..... the list goes on. BUT, I can do almost all my own work, and don't need a computer to do it.
I don't care what anyone says about it not having a surfboard, this 1960 Olds really was something. You could fit a 9 footer in the boot.....
Taken at this weekend's Brighter Days Festival in Bright VIC. Fabulous town, and a really great event. Apart from Dragon, who were a bit off their supposedly usual high standard.

The old "Bricks hey,Geez they were good on juice. My sister had one and my car was in the panel beaters getting fixed,so I knocked her car off one weekend and went around the mates place and we put his racks on it,grabbed 2 other mates and the 4 of us and 4 boards on the roof went for a surf trip to Gerringong!...ah thems was the days![]()

Yes, that style of rod really needs a flathead.
Just how well can they be made to go? They look bulletproof.

G,day Obs,Although the Flathead V8 wasn't produced until 1932 a lot of rodders use them in Model A's and earlier cars alike.I have heard on occasion they sometimes can have overheating problems but that is combated by todays thermo fans. They say some of them used a bit of oil to but most blokes I've bumped into over the years at car shows and what have you love them and haven't had much trouble, maybe they stripped them down and built them right the first time? There are heaps of go fast accessories for them including superchargers but just depends how big your wallet is,especially these days when prices of spares and motors are going skywards!...
