hahaha. look on a shorty i find it easy. am2...i have tried others but keep going back to them. quads are a different beast again. but this single fin caper is a real monster.

my midlength single can run a few different ones and goes well. but i finally found a sweet one for it that out does them all. the little board had me f****ed. a few more surfs needed though.

i do agree with you about ability and a fin making you a better surfer...wel if merged some of SP posts and yours together would right on the money imo

oh i think i may have a little hipster in me as i really am liking the singles again

Lol. I can't stand AM2s - no drive or bite. Just shows horses for courses. Anyway, what are the dimensions for your mid length and what fin do you run? A pic would be good if you can find your way to one.

I saw CW singly up north last week. It was a weird shape to my eye. Very similar to a contemporary HP shorty in planshape, foil and rocker. The fin was also a bit small for the board according to the owner and someone else who surfed it. My single fins have a fair more retro in them. Low entry rocker, and old school planshapes and foils. I am running 7' fins but thinking of going bigger.

Well I was told by a Pro today the am2's are the highest selling fins world wide,go figure each to their own.

Yep. I got told the same thing when I bought my last set of fins three weeks ago. Must be true if salesmen on opposite sides of the country are saying the same thing. I am running FCSII large Performers presently. K2.1 and any of the 5 series (P5s, M5s, F5s etc) were my go to fins for many years. Every custom board I would try different fins but never found any I liked better. Except the AB fins for a channel bottom I got made a few years back. I tried the others in it, but none worked as well as Al Byrne's fin. I wonder why?

And Chrispy, while liking my single fins, part of my weird and wonderful quiver (and it's a pretty big part) is an ankle injury I have that prevents me surfing HP shorties any more. Tight radius turns and snaps in the pocket literally have me crying out.

A bloke who rides longboards and Bobsleds can't handle a beak? - insert head scratch and quizzical look -

Both my singlys have beaks. Think very late model single fins from the early 80s and you get and idea of what mine look like.

the kelly fins im not a fan of, they are to upright for me and seem to lack drive...nobody told me to buy the am2,it just happened through wasting money

hey i like my thrusters and quad boards,in fact my favourite board{or lazy and most fun board} is a 7ft double flyer weird thing which i ride as a 3 and 4 finner....

but the singles are fun, they make me less manic, make me me think and enjoy the wave for what it offers....i will ride my other boards,i always do...buy sometimes that little bit of different fun is just what i need

And I agree Chrispy. Variety is the spice of life. I drove to the beach today with a longboard, a quad fish thing, and a 8' gun. They all go good and all very different.

And my love affair with 2.1s appears over because the last three boards I have tried them in they have seemed to lack drive. So, presently, I concur. Although, apparently, I don't know anything so maybe they have heaps of drive. Or is it no drive, because I thought they once had lots of drive?

Now I am just confused as the Cool Kid reckons I know **** all. Lol. He might need to surf some proper waves on proper boards instead of waist high gutless snot.

Don't worry about the hipsters, as long as they wear a leggie and share the waves it's all good!
