How does the Whalebone compare to the Macca

Mick first ride today can't really compare too early but impressed reminds me of my 1st board off Steve 5 years ago tho I was 10 kgs lighter we have been fine tuning every board since and feel good on this board being no 12

Sounds like it went well for a 1st run then...."12" wow lol

I'm looking forward to owning one again, keen to try a macca model though

Mick this might sound crazy but i'm no expert and i cant tell the difference but they ride amazingly for me,go for the macca model spice it up a bit thats why i went back to the Whalebone also the Whalebone has less rocker which i wanted.Good luck

Whalebone has plenty of overall curvature for my local waves (fat reefies). I surf shortboards on the beachies unless swell is real low...but yeah, keen as to try the macca. For me it all depends what is available on the second hand market at the time I'm chasing a new board. Until I bought the Tollhurst 2 weeks ago, the most I'd ever paid for a surfboard was $600...its now $750. Was also keen on a Boyd Purdy, but didn't wanna drive to the city. They're another board on the want list...missus would divorce me if I went out & paid retail prices for the boards I buy.

So ya saying main diff is the macca has more rocker, which makes a lot of diff & I suspect might be better suited to the East. Thats good to know...I've never compared the boards side by side enough to notice. My eyes are drawn to the funky tail...but since you say macca's have more rocker, I probably would prefer whalebones. Shorter for bigger waves & longer for smaller...I'll try a macca one day though...cheers

Nice 1 inch stringer is the gas Lacey makes the board all class but then again you've got sh!t waves up there & a thousand list cloggers on every break just waiting to ruin anything nice so yeah you're right we're drooling about nuthin' hang on make that 800 list cloggers we've got 200 of the cockwipers down here atm giving all of us Qlder surf herpes
