Anyone catch the Medina/Slater heat?

7.17 for three average snaps on a small wave?

I thought Slater was ripped off. Especially after watching the way the judges then scored the Fanning heat.

I agree. The commentators were talking up that wave like no tomorrow. I thought it was pretty average myself. The little floater was hardly a breathtaking difficult move - just functional whilst his end backhand reo was not that flash or extravagant either. Then he did a small claim / fist pump - seems he owes the Jar $300.

Some of the scoring is terrible... Owen wrights heat yesterday was a cluster **** of poor judging..

Is there any reason that Peter Mel sits on a board for these water based interviews? Are they saving money? Surely he could just be on a jetski - they use one to video him whilst talking anyway.

He was insane in that heat - looked like he was really enjoying himself. Not sure why - it looked scary to me with all those steps in the wave face

Not to mention he is all class. Lends a board to Hobgood and then laughs when it gets snapped. Then lets a 11 year old carry board up the stairs

Josh Kerr made the news thanks to this:

"I knew I needed to score so I tried to arm bar, like, put the pie in the oven, get nice and deep, but then you do that first section of The Box and the second section drops out underneath you and I didn't handle that very well ... "

Seems like the only way a Brazzo will win is if there are 2 of them surfing in a heat

I enjoyed watching M Pupo yesterday. They were struggling to work out were to sit, he really had to throw himself of the ledge at mains and he did it. Parko looked the most comfortable though IMHO

Agree Parko looked the best by far at Mainbreak. Not sure what board he was riding however I have heard has packed a 8'6.
