I dont really know big gliders, but like I said, Lizzy has amazing glide and ridiculous speed even at 7'7" and larger iterations have been super successful from what i've read...
The other guy making amazing larger gliders is Josh Hall so i'd check him out as well as he's coming to Aus later this year and his stuff is unique and amazing, trained with Skipp ![]()
Addition: There's a guy down here with really nice Gato 10" that seems to go real nice, might be worth checking out
Just wanted to clarify, that Donald's DT-1 Speed Shape is definitely not a "glider". It's a longboard with a pulled in outline for bigger/pushier waves that can be surfed very hard off the tail if the rider is so inclined. You can obviously stand there and trim if you like, but they are definitely made to be surfed off the tail quite a bit harder than your standard pulled in glider.

So are you a shaper dude?

I can shape, yes. Did you want a resume?
I do also know the ins and outs of everything I've spoken about here. Been involved from start to finish with Donald's boards since he came out and approached Dad and Paul in 1999 to manufacture them, which we have been doing ever since. Have somewhat of an idea on what I'm talking about. Just want to make sure people aren't getting the wrong information about the boards.
The OP was about a 10' Speed Shape and suddenly people are comparing both Ryan and Josh's boards with the design. While they each make an amazing board, they both shape vastly different stuff to the board in question in the OP.
I feel there's no point to your passive aggressive "call out" comment...

Thats siiiiiiiiiiiiiick dude, awesome to have you here dude (seriously btw
)
And actually, I wasn't being passive aggressive at all, i'm being complimentary because you're calling it as you see it and backing it with info... So i'm genuinely sorry if it came out that way, i'm just here for a laugh and light banter and a bit of extra board/surf info, i'm just not the sort of person who takes anything too seriously... In actuality i'm super envious actually as i'd love to work in that culture and know more, I certainly don't profess to be any sort of expert as I thought i'd pointed out if you read through![]()
Anyways, maybe we need more emoji's to better reflect the tone, ![]()

So this beauty turned up just before I went to Indo!....anyway back and waxed up ready to roll. I'm kinda waiting for my local right hand reef to light up to christen it....hopefully a swell next week!

I am not sure which is more impressive the board or the wax job..... Looking forward to the ride report
Looker for something that can handle some bigger outer bombie and point days
I'm going to chuck my two cents worth in here :
If you are going to get a board for big waves go and see a shaper...be honest about the target waves, the expected size and your abilities
10ft is alot of board to handle...while it might get you in early your going to have to wield a heap of rail of the bottom and will be in a world of hurt if you caught inside trying to wrestle a big board

Yeah needed to step up my wax game, usually I smear it on in the car park with a mix of whatever sandy wax scraps I have in the boot.
this one got the diagonal base coat and then cool over the top![]()
Don't want the first surf on it to be 1-2 foot onshore...so I'll wait for a good day!

Yeah it'll be sweet...I've been pushing my 11fter Chris Craft in waves up to 6ft and have reached its limit...but it's a heap of fun so I ordered this to take over 4-6ft
I think this will do quite nicely...with more rocker, a foot shorter, and side bites!
But you are right it's a lot of board to handle when u get lit up on the inside...conversely they paddle like a rocket so you can limit your exposure.
the reef/points I ride have a channel so it's manageable.
ill let u know how I go.
How was your trip?
Looked like it was pumping whilst you were over there..
Yeah it was on...2 swells while we were there. Telos doesn't cop it like the Ments but still got plenty. Rode my 7'0 DHD sweetspot on all the overhead 2x overhead days and the C Bucket the rest. Here's a couple of pics riding the CBucket at Skatparks.
ill do a more detailed report on the CBUCKET and the fins I mucked around with...heaps of fun!

Yeah these were just some pics from our young surf guide.
Is your mate Andrew?....I think he works with some of the resorts up north/central Telo?

As an addendum to Tux, I'm a big fan of taking guns out BEFORE you need a gun. And by gun, I mean whatever board you have that is aimed at the upper limit of your surfing. So if 6' is it, get that board out before it's 6'. Ditto if your outer limit is 12'.
A few practice sessions nutting out how it paddles, where to turn it, the benefits of moving up and down the board are really really beneficial when the time comes. I have a 9'6" where it really doesn't matter where I stand, it turns the way it turns. Another 9'6" really needs me back on the tail. I reckon it's best to find that stuff out before I am crapping myself.

Hey fellas...all good points...however I didn't buy this board to surf 10-12ft sunset!...but I also don't want to christen it in 2 foot slop!
i bought it for good waves. I have ridden my whole quiver of longboards in solid 4-6 foot waves and really enjoy doing so...especially the 11fter! I've had afew Taks and they go unreal...I'm sure this tried and tested shape will not disappoint!
Anyways there's abit of swell so the next few days it could get wet!
