The thing about a good ten ft plus board is you can pull around those big white water sections...

Just in time to pull around another big white water section. .

Or just do what the kiddies do and ride the whitewater straight in

Just like a hair drying 14 foot ocean floater or whatever the fark they're called

Confusing with dw practise. Not surfing as we know capt fur coat

So tell us do you wear one of those bum bags with perfumed holy water on those 14 & 17 foot cabin cruisers Lacey

no. camel pack. but I'm failing to see why taking water out in the ocean is a dorky thing. but water ever gets you off

You wouldnt be exactly lighting up the surf with that 33 inch wide barge you call a board pup.
You could have a picnic or a game of pool on that "thing"

Here's my over 10's. From left to right;

10'4 Carabine - a beautiful forgiving allrounder.

11'0 Liberty Foils - Super quick down the line, slightly twitchy but amazing glide.

11'0 Wegener - Cadillac.

11'0 Munoz - Perfect Cruiser.

11'8 Josh Hall - The bigger the face the better she goes; thruster with max 7" fin.

10'0 Liberty Foils - A true gun.

Hey SA,
now you've had the Josh Hall and co for a while...how u finding them?
have you got a fav?
Any that aren't doing it ? & what's the next Big Board going to be?

Glide, keep on the lookout for an 11' Munoz, seems they're a 'must have' in a longer style board quiver. Only surfed mine once but loved it on the day.

SA put me onto the one I bought and I'm pretty sure he swears by his as well.

Yeah ok sweet...l'll have a look
...my wife will be particularly pleased. I just convinced her I needed the 11ft Christenson to round out a 5 longboard quiver....now it's a quiver of longer longboards
Oh well...I told her I won't look in her shoe cupboard if she keeps her nose out of my board rack!

To v. While short on surfing experience you are still young. I believe you should be trying to ride shorter boards. Youll never know whats it a like to hit the lip. Jam a might cutback or lay down a hack on these longer boards you are getting.
Most of the old cudgers in here have been there and down that. But you have yet to experience this.

Dont let it slip by riding monster boards while you still have time to lay down some moves.

Cheers

beg to differ ..its ridiculously crowded for short boarders plus the big days seem to be fewer in between ... for an inland surfer long boarding is the way to go plus you need a lot of surf fitness/ water time for short boarding ..... here on the GC where its mostly small ... more fun on a long board the last few days ...nothing like trimming on a clean face up on the nose .

Hi mate.

Still loving the Josh Hall. Responsive, fast down the line and amazing quality.

I recently got a 10'4 Wegener Corky which is timber bottom and cork deck / rails. A very interesting beast which I'm still figuring out.

Next board ? I've a 9'8 McTavish Redline in order which I'm excited about.

Great posts and stoke sharing. Keep it up !

Just do what makes you happy.

Everyone of of us is an individual and if a longboard, SUP or shortboard is your thing, don't be guided by others, just follow your own path IMHO.

I ride em all depending on how I feel and what I think will give me the biggest smile on any given day; each to their own and don't follow anyone's path but your own.

Why can't you do a cuttie and hit a lip on a LB? Throw in a few nose rides and you have a great time.

Well said SA. Just ride what puts a smile on your face. Some days suit a LB some days don't..

I think a shorter longboard that Lacey means would be minimum 9.6 , 9.8 or even 9.10 would be considered shorter for Vanders.
Vanders is a tail bugger so would be able to rip a board of that size around with his strength. It is a nice feeling dropping down the wave after smashing the lip.I also agree with Baz.

sa. You been there and done that.
All im suggesting is it would be a shame to let the opportunity pass to try shorters boards while he can
Its about that around experience that you have had but vanders hasnt.

As you said above. Try them all
