I think I must have caught SCOTTYitist.

I know people like to be technical and dissect things but why not just go and SUP and forget about the technical shizzz.

Just saying.

Exchanging ideas and information is how design and innovation take place.Without this you would most likely be paddling a bundle of reeds ,and even this came about by exchanging ideas

Good topic.
I have been surfing for 25 years and have done the whole progression thing.
I started on a 6'3" Single fin mcCoy shortboard and ended up on a 9'8" single fin Ron wade longboard. I own serveral longboards over 9ft, mainly thrusters.
The Sups i ride are 10ft and 9'8". The 10ft is very much a longboard style sup but turns very well and is a lot of fun. The 9'8" is more of the shortboard style sup. i use this when it gets overhead.
i dont like being blown around on a wave, so if it gets really windy i will ride the longboard over the Sup, its easier to get through (under) the white water.
The conditons we surf or sup in dictates what board we should ride ( for me anyway). There is no point riding a board that was desigined for 6-8ft barrels in swell thats 2ft and mushy, you are not going to have fun and it isn't the boards fault.
Same with Sup'n. So many times i see people trying to ride a Sup that isn't suited to them or the conditions they might be surfing in, but because it was a "great deal" at the shop, and they told them where to surf it, they bought it.
If you can ride the board or sup the way it was desigined to be riden and having FUN , why change?
Satisfaction will be found only when we go back to the basics and remember why we are doing this.....FUN. now get out there.
I like this guys bunch of reeds.....lol oldy but a goody
