After a couple of days in Melbourne, crowds at the beach too much for me.
Ran away to Ventnor again.

That's ok Noza I'll keep working up here missing the water while you chill, someone has to o do it! Lol

We all have our roles to fill Dave.
Another nice one this afternoon.

Just an easy 7km paddle at the usual spot, WSW winds so good practice paddling up then DW. The Tassy Ferry went past then 30 later managed to catch 3 waves as the wash eventually mad it to shore, good practice on the 14ft board.

Glad your getting out! Is that Frody?
Charles "Chick" Frodigh it is Eagle Eyes! Not Portugal! LOL!
Two surfs today (am just a one surf a day person) firstly small and gitless at town beach. Towball went out so he wouldn't have been a happy chappy. Secondly mak point....bit bigger but still gutless. Got better as tide dropped....then seabreeze hit blah blah blah. Some of waves at point pretty good though. Seven or eight longboarders and a grumpy looking sup person. Ended up just
me.......always a bonus
Little clip of surfing some small waves in choppy conditions yesterday.
After several failed attempts at using my Soloshot 3 using the new firmware finally was able to get Soloshot edit on my 10 year old Mac and everything worked. The highlight reel that the program automatically selected from what it thinks are the best rides is amazing. Able to get 180 minutes of video down to 2 minutes in about 15 minutes with Soloshot edit. What a great little piece of software. Still the beta release but seemed to work well.

Shame you didn't have a 12' Nozza
Got out today at North Chesterman. A bit bigger and cleaner waves than yesterday at MacKenzie. The last clip there is a little grom that pulls in behind me and shows the old guy how to really rip!

Come on you blokes, the ocean beachs were beckoning.
Safety Bay for the first time ever, lots of boats and Jet Skis coming out of the marina but easy enough to handle and the jet ski hooks were a long way off.

Today at town beach first thing. Strongish offshore. Looked flattish until biggish sets came through. Long walled very fast waves.
So very happy. Just me out in last half hour of the night's darkness......but that a bit scary.
Best ever take off for Nalu 11'4.......a chuck off the lip......bit of freefall.....and then off like a rocket![]()
Got out yesterday at North Chesterman and the video if nothin else made my wife laugh! (Cross posted on the zone). The waves were ok but closed out quickly. Just lucky to be out surfing.
cheers

.hey bob, good Aussie saying "played hard did good"looks bloody cold, onya for being out there.
Thanks Fitz
Yes and no regarding the cold. I have a good wetsuit, boots, and a hot outdoor shower for post surf warm up! I don't get cold surfing for 2-3 hours. Water temp is a balmy 8 degrees. Air temp may be 10 degrees on that day. Warm compared to my east coast cousins but definately cold compared to down under. I have never surfed without a full wetsuit.......sort of what you get used to. The crowds do thin out in the winter but still a few of us out there every day. If the surf is good maybe 10-20 spread out over the beach. If the surf is really good there is an understanding with some of the work crews that you can take a few hours off to surf. When there was the O'Neil Cold water classic in Tofino a few years back the entire town shut down to watch the competition!
Cheers

Morning and afternoon sit down sessions at Ventnor.
And I think Westernport is about as warm as it gets.

First time out since tearing my calf muscle Christmas Day. A very lumpy and confusing swell at F Break. A fair few out and I felt like I had gum boots on. At least I got wet. The groove will return ![]()
Point Addis today - joffadan and I.... pics courtesy of Dean Snow. Some of the sets rolling through were sweet!
