don't tell anyone
Then remove the name of the store in the picture... Googling it gives you the exact location :-)
Ya don't say!
Surfed probably some of the worst conditions I have ever surfed this morning - the joys of getting one time slot a week in Winter..
High tide, next to no swell, strong side shore conditions and no banks...
Managed a couple of sliders, water temp is getting a bit chillier.
Arvo paddle on the Derwent.

Have you got BOOTIES on there young Dave?![]()

A bit of surf getting into Town Beach this morning. This pic looking from Midway to Waikanae Beach and the harbour.
Solid 3 to 4 foot sets at Midway early morning with mostly just me out. Actually got tubed on one of the big lefts at Midway which was a big buzz but more likely serendipity as no hope of abandoning ship ![]()

And at town beach again today
......thick fog.....thick waves....managed to catch a biggie out the back on my knees and lived to tell the tale ![]()
with a few close friends ![]()

Which board is that STC?
9'1 Creek.... went great. I'll put up a vid.
Just had a cracking 3-hour session in Westernport on the acid. Looked a bit like STC's break; half of Melbourne came for a surf...
A play at Pt Leo with the vicsup crew . Another successful wave comp done and dusted . Thanks everyone, great fun

It must have been perfect conditions for the comp. Were the locals happy about taking their waves, or did they continue to surf among the competitors? And I am curious, do normal weekend surfers compete or only the serious/skilled surfers?

Small but fun day for the comp with lots of other peaks for the locals to play with. Most people are respectful of the comp and staying clear. Most of us are weekend hacks looking to improving, the finals are great to see as the standard is good. Friendly atmosphere

I had a surf on Saturday at a well known spot in Westernport, classic winter day, I surf there regularly.
It was me on my mal, and 15 SUPs, I was the only guy lying down!
I have mates who bitch and moan about SUP surfers all the time, they go there thinking who are these pricks, just wrong.
Can I say I was never dropped in on, I was called into a few and had much friendly banter, great couple hours.
I would rather surf with guys and gals like that anytime, we had a ball, everyone sharing, a really good vibe.
Cheers to all out there![]()

Hope you got onto the waves I called you onto.
Was wondering why a single Mal rider would venture out with a bunch of Sup'ers.
Question answered!
Paddled back to Shoreham - it was like a seal colony up there!
One of the joys of SUP that I never would have considered - seeing a good wave coming and calling someone in.
The joy on peoples faces when they know they are able to get a wave without the guessing and hassling is something you have to see to believe
Its a good way to set the tone as well, have had stinkeye surfers and other SUP'ers turn friendly real quick when you do this.
I also like watching other people on waves so its a win/win.
Crazy crowd for a winter weekday morning......was only 3 or 4 out for first 2 hours though (was cold) ![]()

Just finished a 2 week tour round the South Island of NZ.... Unreal scenery and I was ever vigilant to try and find a secret break or firing spot while we wandered around. Amazingly, The sea was smooth with nice swell on both coasts... I reckon that doesn't happen often!!
Anyway, I spied a couple of mean looking slab breaks way down south that were the home to a few seals (and prob some 'toothy' dolphins) and didn't spot anyone in the surf till I got back up to Kaikoura on the Nth East coast. What an awesome bit of coast... populated by a few hardy souls ready to rubber up to the max and get into the very cool water. I don't own enough rubber to get in there too.... No stand ups but got a few snaps of a couple of great spots....
