Protein shakes are fine - provided they don't cause bloat /gas etc.

Real food is always a better choice though. But there is something to say for ease and convenience.

Adding an Electrolyte mix - (like LMNT) helps enormously in feeling better the next day - as that is usually what you are lacking. Not muscle glycogen.

Newest member of the Skinny Kid Surf Team.
I still don't recognize this guy, he doesn't look like the guy I have known for the past 50 years.

Waves are from the past 3 days in Florida riding my 8'8 Ghost.
I have an 8'5 on order.

Sheesh Creek! Look at that lean dude out there!
You'll likely get an entirely new lease of life on supping by going down board sizes, and how you surf might change a bit too.
Will be fascinated to hear your progression and thoughts on both ??

No money for clothes, but I bought a needle and thread and took in my baggies so they don't fall off

The 8'8 is now a higher Guild Factor as my 9'1 has been for the past year.
Looking forward to the 8'5!

Cool picture showing the floatation on my 8'8 with some big fish hanging out under me (remember the GoPro shrinks everything)

Thanks greatsup, the best part is carrying the 8'8 to the beach instead of a 9'6!

I go a 10 minute demo on my buddies 8'5 a few months ago, and it truly felt like a game changer to me.
It was my friends first session on his new board so I didn't want to keep it from him.
But. in the few short waves I got, it felt like a big step down from the 8'8.. much more shortboard like.

Don't know if that will be a good thing, but I am stoked to find out!
The 8'8 was super easy the other day, so I think the 8'5 will be a good match!

I have never been a "ride as short as possible" advocate, but even at my age, I think the 8'5 will be a positive move.

After you lose a lot of weight it is interesting to pick up an equivalent weight and walk around with it. For me it is 15kg and I can't believe I used to walk around with that on my body. Win win. Good work Creek.

Thanks hilly!

My grandson only weights 27 lbs (12.3 kg) I have lost 70 lbs (32 kg)
Holy crap. I can barely carry one of him, let alone 2 of him!

I am now 13 kg less than in this picture with him

Hi Creek,

Damn amazing!!Can you share with us what your diet is? In my case the devil is lack of energy - 63 and one hour in the surf I'm stuffed for the day - love to hear how you keep that active lifestyle up. Reading between the lines it sounds like cutting out the carbs was the answer to both weight loss as well as extra energy?

Hi Mate. cutting carbs for me was great . 16 kgs just dropped off me and with very little exercise . still had some beers though with mates from time to time. Another huge advantage was the massive reduction in joint inflammation and back inflammation. When i fell off the wagon and started on carbs again it all came back. I am of the mind now that carbs are poison. I gave up weetbix (which I absolutely love) and the bleeding gum issue I had when brushing my teeth for my whole life disappeared. Its kinda strange but true.

This is what I wanted to stress: What is a "properly tenured" carnivore diet?
You will find as many definitions as there are "experts". Some even with a 4kg butter daily dose.
Plus diets must be adapted to you and your microbiote, we are all different.

So you should state (or point to) exactly what you mean, otherwise you are falling into the "No true Scotsman" fallacy.
(or here the "Not properly tenured Carnivore Diet")

Again, I am not debating with you on what is "The True Scotsman".
I am just trying to warn readers that things are more complex.

And "do your own research" is actually dangerous if you do not know how to properly conduct researches.

Ok colas, you have repeatedly pushed your "smart advice" here, so here's my take on how dangerous it is to lean heavily on the advice of the "Medical Professionals"

The world has followed the lead of the US institutions like the USDA and Approved Food Pyramid for 50 years.
NOTHING has proven to be more dangerous for human heath around the globe or more deadly.

The USDA's 1992 Food Guide Pyramid
The introduction of the USDA's food guide Pyramid in 1992 attempted to express the recommended servings of each food group, which previous guides did not do. 6 to 11 servings of bread, cereal, rice and pasta occupied the large base of the pyramid; followed by 3 to 5 servings of vegetables; then fruits (2 to 4); then milk, yogurt and cheese (2 to 3); followed by meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts (2 to 3); and finally fats, oils and sweets in the small apex (to be used sparingly). Inside each group were several images of representative foods, as well as symbols representing the fat and sugar contents of the foods

SINCE these Dietary Recommendations by the Government Food Experts were adopted:
Obesity has dramatically increased.
Chronic Disease has dramatically increased.
Diabetes has Skyrocketed.

The ONLY thing that is having a dramatic effect to turn this around did NOT come from the Scientific Community or the Health Experts..
It came from the power of Social Media to expose the connection between Big Food, Big Pharmaceutical and the USDA.
It was the very influencers that detractors say are so dangerous.

The Carnivore Sphere grew from tens of thousands of stories that made a huge base of "Anecdotal evidence" that attracted the attention of thousands of highly qualified Research Scientists, Clinical Physicians, Cardiac Vascular Surgeons and Research Biologist.

The Carnivore Diet has thousands of highly qualified Medical Professionals who not only support this diet but have adopted it themselves and conduct ongoing studies to further the knowledge base.

I made it a point to study a wide range of very respected and hyper qualified Doctors, neuroscientists, Clinical Physicians, Cardiac Vascular Surgeons and Research Biologists.

Looking outside the box and doing meaningful research, isthe most responsible thing we can do to take back our health.

Carnivore is a wide tent.... it varies from person to person. Some eat a wide variety of food with the emphasis on animal products. Some are Red meat only. (They do just fine) I understand that our bodies are perfectly designed to forage on a wide variety of food groups.

Carnivore I the ultimate "Elimination Diet" which many use to reset their health before slowly adding back food variety to achieve s healthy lifestyle.

You have totally got it covered it my friend. These are all the same people I have been listening too and all very qualified.
It kinda makes me mad that we have been delt so much BS for so many years.

I read this thread with interest but found the conclusions that people have come up with interesting. Points I would like to make:
1. A strong association is not proof of causation.
2. I would imagine graph would look similar if obesity and chronic disease was compared to the increase in production of "super processed" foods
3. Similar graphs could also be produced taking into account the individual wealth of US citizens over the period of time.
4. Graphs depicting changes in work patterns, ie far more workers in sedentary roles.
5. Graphs illustrating the increased lifespan of US citizens over the same period.

Hi Nozza, good to see you here, I hope all is well my friend!
ha ha... I totally get it, but unfortunately it is NOT that simple.

I have to respectfully 100% disagree :
"Just don't eat too much **** food,
it's not very hard."
For my entire life, I thought like that.... just take control and do it!
But I never succeeded in doing it.

Not only is it hard.... it's nearly impossible for all the fat people of the world.
Take a look around.... do you truly believe that all of us obese people are just stupid? NO... we were intentionally sold food that is not only addictive but diabolical in how it controls our bodies.

THAT was exactly my issue for the past 50 years of "Dieting".... I was completely addicted to the ** food I was eating.
I used to compare myself to a heroin addict, with a twist: when they quit, they stopped completely.... I had to do my "drug" 3 times a day, and somehow I should still have the will power not to overdo it. Totally insane.

I could stick to a diet through sheer force of will for around 3 months before I caved under the pressure of addiction.
It was a miserable existence that I fought every single day of my life.
Here's the dirty little secret:
Big food has been paying thousands of scientist to make food addicting and also to shut off the body's mechanism that signals the brain to stop eating.

Millions and millions of people are suffering this inability to stop eating the hyper addictive ** foods they have spent billions in clever advertising to brainwash us to eat:
"bet you can't eat just one!"

The evidence that food is made addictive on purpose and is designed to override our satiety signals is 100% proven.... it is just little known and not reported on, and honestly, I bet most people don't want to believe our food producers are THAT sinister. But they are.

I don't give a ** what people say or think about what is "true" or proven" about the Carnivore lifestyle.....
After 50 years, I am free from my food addiction!

I can eat as MUCH as I want, I LOVE the food I eat and my life has been changed in more ways than I can state here.
for instance:
My old blood pressure was ALWAYS right at the high end of normal..... now it is at the low end of normal.

I will never again be tempted to have just a "little" of the ** food I used to eat....
I walk through a supermarket now and see ALL of that food as poison.... not as a temptation.

I am not a recovering food addict, quite the contrary.... I am a reborn clean slate, that is 100% free and satisfied.
Next weekend I turn 77 and feel better than I have in 30 years!

Thank you Carnivore!

at a friends, after a session in his front yard

I read this thread with interest but found the conclusions that people have come up with interesting. Points I would like to make:
1. A strong association is not proof of causation.
2. I would imagine graph would look similar if obesity and chronic disease was compared to the increase in production of "super processed" foods
3. Similar graphs could also be produced taking into account the individual wealth of US citizens over the period of time.
4. Graphs depicting changes in work patterns, ie far more workers in sedentary roles.
5. Graphs illustrating the increased lifespan of US citizens over the same period.

Just don't eat too much **** food,
it's not very hard.
You don't need drugs to stop you eating too much.
Take some personal responsabilty for how you treat your body.
Boy there was a quick rant I didn't see coming
