I have no friends so I tried the Soloshot 2 a few years ago. What a PITA to set up, got a few ok shots and then could not be bothered. Ordered the 3 Pro years ago and finally ran out of patience and modified my order to the standard 3 which arrived quickly. Set up is light years ahead of the Soloshot 2 and it appears to work, which is a change. See below - audio is "Be Yourself" by Audioslave, board is a SMIK 10 footer with 2 by 1 set up which I did not like. Back to thruster this arvo.
A few oops ,but 2 barrels ,I wouldn't complain about that ...good session ..
A few good cranking cut back s there hilly .
Very nice !!
Good effort taking off into that wind with such a big nose area. It didn't seem to get the nose slap that a lot of big boards do on decent waves?
What were the fins you didn't like and let us know when you find a set that you do.
Can never have too much fin talk ![]()

Tried a quad set up first but it was in pretty soft waves felt ok in the bigger ones. Then thruster set up with a slightly smaller center fin in good waves at north point, felt pretty good. Then went to the 2 plus 1 in the video that felt a bit stiff. Went back to a thruster with a slightly larger center fin and not as loose as the slightly smaller center fin. So the verdict is:
1 Thruster slightly smaller center fin
2 Quad
3 Thruster with a slightly larger centre fin
4 Single with 2 small side bites
That is for good waves. I reckon just a single will be good for tiny waves and a quad will be best for bigger waves when straight line speed is needed. All good fun ![]()
That was nice hilly and can I be your mate ![]()
Dune Rats ... I'm a little ****ed up (I might need a hug) ![]()
Glad your SoloShot3 worked for you, thanks for posting .... great waves and surfing!
Love the look of that wave... about perfect I'd say!

Interesting. I've got an Infinity New Deal. Only a 9 footer but still that longboard shape. It came with a thruster set with a slightly smaller centre fin. It's got a centre box so I put the fin in the centre of the box, as you do to start with. It felt like I was getting a bit of slippage on the bottom turn so I swapped the centre for a bigger fin (bigger than the sides) and it felt a bit stiff. Put the smaller centre back in but moved it a long way back in the box (about an inch from the back) and that feels pretty good. So similar conclusion to you I guess.

Where did you get those?
I was hiding in the sand dunes![]()
OK have to say more impressed today. It voomed right in with no change in setting. This was a frame grab full size no crop :) You can see my rude head.

Great Surfing Hilly!
Enjoyed the edit and that you included a few wipeouts. More pictures of Zara and Zoe !
Cheers
Bob
A real test of the footage is slow motion. Now remember this is 400m offshore at least and no post editing other than slow it down.

Very nice, the camera setup really does the job of catching the stoke.
Just curious on on how you get this obviously hot wave all to yourself, aside the aforementioned lack of mates?

Go at sparrows fart.
And there is a fair bit of this:

Major cockup this arvo - 3 restarts still no follow and I could see the onshore coming in. Very frustrating.

Had 5 waste of times in the last 2 days. Fantastic surf but Soloshot did not follow. Just a nice shot of the same bit of ocean, so frustrating as seemed all good as I paddled out just lost contact about 200m out ![]()

Title of thread.
I've never heard of that brand before.
Do Canon make them?
Nice surfing , nice waves, you and the board look very in sync, sounds as though the camera is another beast!![]()
What are they worth? Or worth the hassle?
