wow--total buyer's remorse that i paid for a soloshot3 last feb--

first of all the big discount pitch for prepay customers indicated an early summer delivery, and it has yet to arrive!

second seems drones have made a huge jump in user friendliness and effectiveness relative to cost.

oh well---i will update on the soloshot3, the order for which cant be cancelled, if/when it arrives.

Don't really understand what you're getting at? Soloshot and drones are completely different products...
I ordered my Soloshot3 in September last year btw

You will find my comment on the Lily when it was first posted here on SB saying it would be obsolete but the time it came out , I should have put money on that

I ordered the Mavic 48 hrs after its release , got this from DJI today:-

Dear Customers,

We said at our Mavic Pro launch event that we would begin shipping in
mid-October. We’ve just passed that, and if you’re wondering where your
Mavic Pro is, we’d like to offer an update.

Since unveiling the Mavic Pro, we’ve had amazingly strong global demand. Production is in full swing, and we will be fulfilling orders as fast as we can.
If you have a DJI customer account, we’ll be sending you updates,
or you can check for new information in our online store http://store.dji.com/product/mavic-pro.

We thank you for your enthusiasm and patience and for being a DJI customer.

Best,

SPEWIN!!!! That's pretty ordinary. Lucky I'm saving up for mine as by the time I get the $$ in about 2 years, they should be ready

9/15? so you shd be more disappointed than I. 13 months later still no soloshot3. when they said it's liklely be ready in june 2016

my point remains that, while soloshot has been holding my money for a year and not delivering, drones have improved in so many ways, incl user-friendliness and follow-me. So I wish I'd opted to wait to see the soloshot3 before paying. Had I done so, I would have opted for a drone as a better self-filming device.

clearly soloshots and drones are very different devices

Yep 9/15. I'm not too disappointed. I spent the money knowing that there would most likely be delays like any crowd funding style campaign.
Just hoping that (considering the length of the delay) we get a polished product. The two previous generations of soloshot have been quite successful so I think it will be worth the wait.

Really though if you are after a device made for tracking and filming yourself the SS is the way to go. The only waterproof follow me drones available at the moment are 3 times the price of the SS. Assuming you are after something to film yourself SUP'ing/surfing? Stick with your soloshot order, we've waited this long!

I Pre-ordering the Soloshot on 08/2015 and until now no shipment estimated date, i send several mail and still the same response we are working and since you pre-order is on 08/2015 you will be on the November ...( no say date and year..maybe next year..) But i hope this delay was for fixing issues and updates with devices.

And for DJI Mavic receive the same messages as Piros and my order is on 2016-10-07

Hey Piros, couldn't let you have all the fun, just pulled the trigger on the Mavic (prob same deal even ), always take your heart in your mouth as an early adopter...but hey... ya wait around ya could be dead right?

Fingers crossed for nil tech malfunctions!

Yeah it's a cruel wait. It has a lot to live up to . I've been using the Gopro 5 very impressed and making me second gues on the Karma.......The other thing I pulled the trigger on early is the new Sony A99ii DSLR , yes I'm dumping Canon and going Sony also . It's also due Decemeber.

I agonised over the GP5 as well but have a 3 blk and the mavic struck me as a superior drone, even more compact than karma..but mostly riding on DJI rep in the market and not sure abt pulling gimbal constantly out of nose cone.. spose it's the drone you have at the time that lights your candle..

Which canon you leaving behind? The Sony machine looks impressive with 42mp, 12fps and tuns of cross sensors more for foootage or action stills?

My Mavic just shipped ... Selling my Canons 5&7DM2s the new 5DM4 is just so disappointing . Big leap for me as I have over 10k in Canon glass plus housings. Just got the Sh!ts with Canon sitting on technology and only reacting to Nikon. I'm down sizing all my kit for travel. I'm also selling my pro Sony FS700 video cam and hoping the A99ii will fill its shoes video and the Canon in stills. It's very impressive video wise as well as the stills.

Good to hear your birds on its way..feel your pain re the 10k in glass..keeps many tied to Canon/Nikon...incl myself 5d3. I reckon Sony deserves more of the market if its going to produce the goods. Like to see competition but more than that, innovation and like you said the other two seem to have a comfortable market "symbiosis" you sure abt selling that pristine tack sharp 24-70 2.8L?

Piros, I'm saving madly myself and hope to pick up the mavic but have a quick question for you. What are you planning to use for the screen monitor on the controller? Would an iPad mini fit in there and how long would you expect from the battery? Are there any other devices you would recommend? Cheers Whitey

Just arrived so stoked yT04:- I'll use my iphone 6+ unfortunately the mini won't fit and I have one from my Inspire drone which I just sold. They say 27min but I'll never fly that long to preserve battery life , I won't keep it up past 20min I have 3 batteries all up so that's guaranteed 60min of shooting. I won't need anymore than that.

keep your canon glass and get a speedboister adaptor and a gh4 or gh5. Super 35mm looking 4k and nice 96 fps slo mo is all yours.

Still loving my gh4 !

lets us know your thoughts in the mavic asap

I hear you Matt but I have to dump some glass just can't travel with the weight anymore. I want a full frame DSLR with 12fps that shoots reasonable 4k @ 120fps .No more full scale movies for me. My whole kit including the drone will be a 7kg carry on.

"small kit liberates film maker" - so true! Lets you focus on creativity and shots rather than lengthy resets.

GoPro recalls Karma drone , it has randomly been loosing power and dropping out of the sky.....

On the up side there is some Mavic Pro footage in this kiting video I shot on the weekend , plus footage from the new GoPro 5 , both pretty spectacular.

thats sweet, i want one of those slingshot foils, the small one. Did you try the follow me function on the mavic to get some of those shots or just manual, i know it was one of the reason you went with the Mavic. I want to know wether it will follow us snowboarding? been reading that it my be difficult when you factor in varying elevations and multiple boarders.

Then again probably dosen't matter to much as I dont think I will be able to get Mavic or Karma before xmas now.

Yeah the Slingshot are by far the best set up to start on. Didn't use the follow me I just flew it behind and around the riders .I got so close at one stage the drone backed away on its own and told me I was too close .So cool . This was my first flight so obviously very easy to fly. The follow me is so easy you just tap on the persons head on the screen and it just follows them. I didn't use that because of the kite lines.
