Hey Noz
Nice range of boards
I have paddled most over the years and enjoyed a mates 17 footer I wish i had bought it when he moved back to NZ
How does your back handle the big boards
Saw helmy did some epic paddle the other day

Nice to see you are so into it

Big boards OK on the back, do get a fair bit of shoulder pain from time to time.
But that's more from work related wear and tear.

Hi mate,

I have a pair of 14s (one flat water/small bumps and one big wind and swell DWer). I bought a 12'6x26 (kinda for my wife, kinda for me to bop) ... but I've just discovered it's too narrow and pointy for me for that.
I'm looking to bridge the 14' board gap or find one that fits all applications (maybe a V2) and find a good Bop board 12'6 bullet..

Be interested in your thoughts...

Be even more interested in a go on them if youre about.....

I paddle the 14 V1 in flat / choppy water a lot, and it is a great downwind board that exceeds my ability by a lot.
The 14 V2 is very similar, less rocker and probably more allrounder.
Neither will be fast in flat water if you want to race.
The 12'6" Bullet, officially 26 and something wide I measured at closer to 28. It is a great little board, surfs anything.
I'm around Black Rock or Beaui most mornings.
PM me and I can bring a couple down if you want to meet up and try them.

I have had my SIC for a few weeks now (an X14 and a 12'6 Bullet)

Love them both to bits, the X14 is the best board I have used in flatwater and has seen an increase in my top speed and a drop in my time trial times and the 12'6 is like a mountain bike, it just goes in all conditions. I demoed the V2 14 the other day and it was awesome as well. Overall the brand just seems to kick out boards that 'just work' and they seem to do it for the average guy as well as the elite.

that 12'6 looks very much like a 14' with just the nose cut off? volume thickness outline and rocker all look very similar, it would be the first time i have seen a company do this ether?

charlieuk, forgive me, but if I quote you images go uncontrollably in to the quote.
(Laurie, could you look in to that before I sick ex Lacey on to you)

It depends on how / where you line things up for the comparison. (play with the CAD I sent you)
If you line up the handles, i.e. the bit of the board you are standing on upwind or flat, 12'6", 14' (V1 or V2, same plan shape), F16 and 17'4" are very similar a couple of feet either side of where you stand.
The shorter boards get a bit more width to add stability. The longer boards taper more slowly at front and back.
Whether this is just SIC, or every board ever made by anyone I have not established.
Obviously the shorter SIC boards have a closer similarity to each other than when compared to the longer ones.
If you line up the back of the boards, it looks a lot like they started at the back, kept the same plan shape, finished the 12'6' at the appropriate length, then the 14, 16, 17, and finally 17'4 at each length.
Hence the 12'6" is very stubby at the front, the 14 less so. The 16' and 17' boards keep the mid board width longer, with a similar bow / nose plan to the 14'.
But yes, the 12'6" is the 14 with the front cut off. Same applies rocker wise too.
But I / we are probably putting far too much thought in to it.
For me, old, clumsy, and balance challenged, the big boards seem "right".
On the 14, I get a bit of a "where did the front of my board go?" feeling.
On the 12'6", very different. Obviously a smaller board, but after the initial odd feeling (I paddle the 17' boards more than the others) I get a "Hey, this is just right" feeling.
A couple of weeks ago, had strong south easterly wind. I was trying to hide in my usual bay, poke out in to the wind, paddle back up wind in shelter of cliffs.
Out in the breeze, downwinding in basically flat water, the 12'6" was a hoot - heaps of fun. Just "Right". Charging along.
Probably way too verbose answer to a question you didn't ask, but when you do your next Australian trip, bring Area 10, and you, me, Helmy and him can bore each other witless in my garage at Ventnor!

Hidden under the cliffs in shelter

Just off those Red Bluff cliffs in breeze.
Sorry for bum cam angle

From the other boards I have seen that have the same apreance it is normally with the tails lined up and the nose chopped off the old Naish 12 and 14 were like this if I remember. Will defiantly have to catch up on my next trip over which will hopefully be in the next year or two as we have some friends we want to go see in Melbourne, will have to make a special 2 part board so I can bring one with me or have one made over there so you can have a play.

Not sure about Kings Cross, but Merimbula without a doubt.
Hopefully arriving with the same number of boards I leave Melbourne with, and uninjured.
