ok so I thought my idea of unlimited flat water boards in Aus was a great idea looks like I'm late to the party and the pro's are already all over it with boards already being shipped in.
How good is this. With Kelly and sunova, jacko Ange with ONE, the tradrew boys love unlimiteds, deep making them already for punters, JM popping out customs...
BOOM A NEW RACE CLASS IS BORN IN AUSTRALIA!!
now with 3 or 4 of the sponsored paddlers in the country getting their hands on an unlimited this will put pressure on an event to add unlimited class to a flat water, all round water race.
Who will be the first event to add it as a class and if the sponsored paddlers are entering will this class be the premier class for the event for the money or at least the glory of line honours.
I now see a future in flat water racing in Aus, maybe some epic 30-50-70-100km racers too. Down some big rivers.
Oh and whose unlimited flat water board can I borrow for my upcoming 50km+ bribie island pumicestone passage paddle from bottom of bribie island to coloundra that I want to do this summer as now I feel the 14 is a little inadequate for ![]()
lots of bargain stike at the moment and it's cheaper to just add 2 to 4ft extension from the 14ft board ![]()

Here's a peek at a fresh unlimited bound for Molokai this month.
I think it is 17'8" x 23".
It was tweaked a little prior to manufacture so length may be different.
Volume is in that standard Aussie unit - a ****load!
That's all the info I have atm.
If you are only going faster than other people because your board is longer than others then what is the point. It is kind of like sex. Dosn't matter how big your d**k is if your first to finish you lose.
But seriously what is this need to have the biggest board. Some king of board envy. I understand for downwinding but flatwater....I don't get it. Makes SUP a spending race not a paddle race.
This rocket left the factory in a container yesterday, with the stability and speed of the current Sunova 14' Flatwater Faast Pro this thing will fly

Kelly this looks epic mate,
can i ask 19foot long whose idea for that length and why this length over say anywhere between 17-20 long
AndyR the choice to make 19' came from Marcus ( the designer ) utilising the best combination of volume, stability and waterline to achieve the most efficient fastest board possible

Ok cool. Cheers.

But if the class grows you won't be going faster than other people because the board is longer than everyone else. everyone will have similar length boards. Everyone will be going faster than their current pace on 14's.
Just like when the sport started 12'6 was it for almost everyone flat water then once 14's were made everyone ditched the 12'6 for flat water paddling.
My thoughts have nothing to do with having the biggest board but having the optimal board for the conditions to make it the most enjoyable time on the water. I have no clue but I even wonder if you could be more effenicent through the water on a 16/17 foot long flat water board over a 19. Time will tell in designs I guess.
it won't be for everyone just like unlimiteds aren't for everyone in ocean paddling.
Not a spending race guys above have said you can get an unlimited made by an Aussie shaper for the same price as a big brand 14.
I must apologise for getting off topic. It's supposed to be about flat water unlimiteds, but I just like unlimiteds in general. ![]()

Hi,
I have a Flatwater unlimited made by sunova. details are in this thread. www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Stand-Up-Paddle/Review/My-new-board-how-it-came-about
There are a few longer flatwater races to enter in NSW that i am familiar with, there is the Myall class which has distances of 12 - 27 or 47 kms, there is the Hawkesbury classic which is 111km and the Murray Marathon 400kms of 5 days.
I am entering both the Myall 47km in September and the Hawkesbury in October and would be keen to do some races in other states in 2018.
As most people say the flatwater is boring, i dont mind as i get to forget about the world and concentrate on paddling & listening to some good tunes.
Here is a few. Perfect for anyone looking to get into the world of Unlimiteds without breaking the bank. The Sprint is a flatwater demon ![]()

HELL YEAH!
SPRINT 17'6" x 23"
hard market if this things only worth $1799 and still for sale. Gonna be a while before this takes off at $4500 - $6000 a board (then worth $1800 nek minute).

TRIVIA - Lipstick was invented by the Egyptians so it would make the female faces look more attractive when performing oral sex.
hahaha.
The time to go really fast is nearly here!!
Will you be sending one to David in Canada? I am sure that a few of us would like to try it unless it is very narrow so that a normal guy cannot paddle it in chop.

These ones are headed to Aus and are 22 wide and a 26.5 designed for flat water so not sure how much chop you would want to paddle them in but i am sure it will handle some small chop ok.
We have some other big stuff that will handle the real choppy stuff coming as well very soon.
Looks awesome.
Rudder?
Length?
No rudder as i dont think for this kind of board it is really needed and could be more hassel than it is worth.
This is 17'7 long

17'7" x 26.5" that would be nice. Light chop is a must as we never really paddle on lakes but on inlets with chop developing at some time from wind and/or tide.

Destined for Melbourne?
Any more pictures Paul?
Starboard stepping back into the unlimited flat water market...

Just saw that. This is good to see. How good of a board will that be! Only shame in Aus it will be much cheaper to get a one/deep/Jm/dc made unlimited. As I'd imagine the unlimited sprint will be a premium price.
This is new sprint shape looks like more of an everyday all types of paddling race shape. I like it and really like the unlimited length

For what I paid for my One flatwater unlimited, you might just get a 14' x 23" Sprint...
