Tease, tease, tease,I like to look at the premium sup.brand Facebook pages, and found Bert showing what he describes as a new model!..could these be ghostly lmages !!!placid like nose ,creek like tail ,no channels, plenty of width, maybe futures fin system?a very nice looking board!!!

Hi JAW....
I couldn't find that FB page, so I can't confirm, but I'll keep looking around.
Yes, Futures fin boxes

It has good width per length and my 9'1 is actually quite stable for it's length.

Tail is rounded Diamond Tail because Bert liked the way it worked with the hip design - wider and different outline than the Creek.

Ghost nose more pulled in than the Placid

STC you're new board definitely has a hip that I noticed when your carrying your board to the water which definitely is a ingredient in the 'secret sauce' ??
You're an awesome inspiration

Thanks 515, much appreciated!
I had a lot of requirements for this board and Bert is a Savant at stirring ingredients into the cauldron. Yup, there were some hips thrown in the stew!

Nice one Rick, you're still killing it.
Look forward to seeing more about the ghosty, reckon there's a bit going on there.
Mate, if I'm still on the right side of the grass and sup surfing at your age, I will be sincerely grateful. And stoked!
Keep up the good work and stick to your guns.
Cheers

Thanks Brenno.... I am truly grateful everyday, to be living the dream!!!

I am currently working on a video:
"Not Dead Yet"
based on how the brutal work renovating my Florida "Fixer Upper".... hasn't killed me yet
don't worry... plenty of surfing in that one!!!

I view caution as a quickest way to age prematurely.

Some women were walking past, while I was up working on the roof (Temp 35c, blistering sun)

Thanks Dave, you will be! believe me.. I am not all that Mobile, everything hurts and I am so inflexible. Surfing just engages a lifelong gear that I use when on my boards ??

Good eyes Boston!
That's the plan... lots of release to keep it fast off the tail and forgiving on the forward rails while maintaining bite.

Boston ,yes and further up,way further up ,Tucked under edge, into slight concave bottom, right out to rail ,all about hold and release when needed, think early model Merrick caddy ,and later Rawson / Freitas, and I'm sure Bert has been all over it as well in the past, and possibly revisiting it in a ghostly sort of way .STC just playing the teaser game, and throwing some educated guesses out there ,based on the way the board performed in the vid

hard tucked edges nose to tail, minimal bottom contours, and no hip in the outline and I would be interested.

Now this is something to get excited about! Maybe done in Sunovas "Candy White" colour so it looks like a ghost ??

Love the name, love the concept.

I think that i'm a bit slow on this :
the sign saying -
"High level of shark activity....no lifeguard"

Is that your handwriting?
Does the sign live in the back of your vehicle, and comes out whenever/wherever you surf?

Wiser

Sorry Boston there is definitely a hip on this one clearly visible in the vid but for those of us that love hip it's going to be gold !

Hey Rick
Looking awesome for 75 years young and its always inspiring to see "mature" supstars out carving it up
Now for a potentially silly question - how would you compare the ghost to the creek sups?
And i don't think i missed the thread - have you decided what sizes you will bring out?

not hard tucked rails nose to tail... the rails are hard on the back, pinched in the middle and forgiving near the nose

My new Ghost (in a few weeks) will have the black taint that accentuates the grain of the wood, black rails and a gray/black deckpad
I didn't really like the way the gold looked with the dark woodgrain, but I think the new board will look more my style..... Sunova may have a different look in mind, and they usually do amazing design work

Hi Chickadee, thank you my friend!!
Being older had a big role in this design.....
My plan is always to surf better today, than yesterday, so this board was designed to make that possible.
Not and "Old Man" board.... quite the opposite
It was designed to make ripping easier, so I am not fighting against the board.

Compare to the Creek:
It has nothing in common with the Creek.... well, until Bert put the rounded diamond tail on it
I have always liked the performance of a rounded diamond tail, so I accepted the tail, even though I knew it would identify it with the Creek. and Hey... the tail works!
Ghost was designed from the ground up to be a very unique board, with very specific goals.... and it continues to blow me a way every session!

I have not surfed the Creek much these days because the Channels track so well that they are difficult for me when a wave hits a soft spot... I need a board to "follow" me better... like in a cutback, when the wave goes soft in the middle of the turn, the Ghost will stay powered up and complete the turn with speed.

Sizes fall roughly between the Flow and SP25 as they size up and down.
Something like this... but the final numbers will be run after I approve my next Ghost (it has a few tweaks)
7'11 x 28.3 at 99 liters
up to (so far)
9'6 x 34 at at 171 liters
Bigger will be available when they are being made for container delivery.
But as always... you will be able to order any length and it will be adjusted accordingly.
