I got on to Mark + Andres and asked about a custom FX. Personally I found the existing one better suited to calmer waters. So this has a slightly recessed deck and a rounded bow +14x26 as I'm no featherweight.
I gotta say in the flesh she looks amazing, such a great finish and amazing care taken in packing and transport, thanks again Andres + crew. Will update post test drive.
1st ride yesterday so plenty to get used to but first impressions are super happy with the new ride. Exceeded my expectations in terms of stability and speed. Handled rough water in Sydney Harbour markedly better than current FX, dealt with back wash/chop and some decent swell easily by comparison to other all-water boards I've tried. Almost as steady as my 14 Bullet in the rough, but noticeably quicker in the flats with less effort. I couldn't be happier with it for an all-purpose/all-rounder/ training board. If put into production it'll be some real competition for the other all-water alternatives + with SIC quality construction/pedigree etc. VMG35 felt great in there to, was fine in the rough stuff and great in the flats..is there a VMG that doesn't feel great?
I was really hoping owners/former owners would chime in on the FX pro...Are sales humming along in the background that I'm unaware of?...or did it fall victim to being "the flavor of the month" ?
Everything just looks so right with the design it hard to imagine it not hitting all the boxes for a lot of paddlers.
I love my FX. Bit iffy in cross chop, but whats board isn't. Upwind, DW & in the flat its a great board. Its pretty bloody quick too!
Ditto Themoke
