Just watched that.
Is it really called the Placid?
From the vid, it's only a "one off" ATM.. (although there are two, a 65ltr and 76ltr built)
So, question for me is.. I like it.. but would need 90+ltrs and 8"3 just by going on what the guy was saying..
I'll wait until I hear more, but it looks really cool.
Really interested to see how these scale. If the larger ones don't get too wide it could be a real quiver killer for me.
Great look at this board from 40 mins here
I may need one of these!
liking that idea of a 2 piece sup surf foil board with an addition of a 3rd piece nose for dw. I also like the collaboration with quickblade and sunova to create a nice paddle. Thumbs up to sunova for thinking about these new toys.
Hey Nugdsm..what volume is the 8'3 you've ordered
Chur
I have not ordered one was just talking to my shop today about them and that was one of the sizes close to what I have been looking at lately.
Hopefully that 8'3x30.5 is coming in at closer to 120l than 110l. The dimensions are kinda sitting in between the two production JL Destroyer sizes I'm looking at, which is interesting, but if the volume is lower its gonna get crossed off my list fast.
From what I have been lead to believe...suggested sizes are as follows...
8'3" 20 1/4" 30 1/2" 18 3/16" 4 1/8" 112.5
8'7" 20 1/2" 31 1/2" 18 1/2" 4 1/4" 125.1
8'10" 20 11/16" 32 1/4" 18 11/16" 4 3/8" 135.3
Thanks Bomber, all a bit big for me. All I can think of when I look at the board is Hipster, but maybe with a more balanced plan shape and not as a pronounced hip ( although more hips) with front twinsers not as far forward. If they are putting a decent handle in them then defo very interested.
Latest dim's are:
7'3" 19" 27" 17 1/16" 3 3/4" 79.4
7'7" 19 5/16" 28" 17 3/8" 3 15/16" 90.3
7'11" 19 15/16" 29 1/2" 17 15/16" 4 1/16" 102.8
8'3" 20 1/4" 30 1/2" 18 3/16" 4 1/8" 112.5
8'7" 20 1/2" 31 1/2" 18 1/2" 4 1/4" 125.1
8'10" 20 11/16" 32 1/4" 18 11/16" 4 3/8" 135.3
9'1" 20 15/16" 33" 18 7/8" 4 1/2" 146.8

7'11 or 8'3 would suit me.
Hmmmm...
Interesting to hear that the Flow 8'7 still gets used a lot more than other owners Sunovas.
For me mine is about 70/30 in favour of my small Shroom and my 8'7 Flow.. ATM...
Thanks BBNZ
I like the look of that 8'3 ..hopefully it will sit in between my 8'5 speeed and 8'7 Acid..or maybe it's the one board to rule them all..all round performance in wide range on conditions..looks a similar thickness to the acid..but more tail and nose and width. Better start saving

The 7'7 Flow is 83L
The 7'7 Placid is 90L
A bigger persons short board
Agreed, in terms of a Sunova line up, but when you compare 7'7 x 28" x 90L Placid to 7'8 x 28 x 98L Hipster (by no means a bigger persons short board) then it still could be considered a thin railed performance board for all, just a slightly more forgiving plan shape.
Thing that makes me smile is the comment in the video that it has as much, maybe more, tail kick as the Acid. Like my tail rocker, provided you can still paddle into waves ok...
I'm 78kgs and on a SB 7'10 x 28 Pro, really liking it although a smidgin more tail kick would be nice, but had some time on the 7'8 Hipster and loved the way that turned, just the wider nose made it a bit slower to whip off the top. So the Placid seems to solves for some of these things, proof will be in the pudding as always tho.
