ha ...yep ,its a good looking board

is it me or are some of the new boards coming out modelled off the acid ? am i allowed to say that .

pictured below ...

THE Placid as a quad worked perfect today ,
I'm am defiantly leaving it as a Quad for a while ,gave me a little bit more drive
and a little more speed ,Also gave the tail a bit more lift with the extra fin area and didn't feel as bogged down in the tail as the twin .
THE 31,5 wide sure was easier to stay up right in the mush today ,

ok ..had the flu ..so been ...out of action ...

my mind has changed on this board after today ...it does like powerful waves ,,,it has a fair bit of rocker and very forgiving
as far as coming of the top of the wave ,shredding etc..you really can push this board to its limits ..but then you can ride up front too..
i reckon I will get a few tubes on this one ..
it seems to be able to do anything ..it is slower to paddle than my 9,1 acid and not as fast on the wave ,but it has a very good tight turning radius .

if you want to cut loose ,you need to get one ,i think my radical surfing has improved with this board ..I'm not scared to do stuff i would normally not do on a 9,1 ,I still feel i could get more drive out of it changing the fins ,to maybe c-drives (coming)
but after the 6-7 surfs now ,i'm really enjoying it ..

I think it has to be the most performance orientated board I have ridden ,if anything ,i would like a little more speed on it ,but then it would be like the acid where you have to dumb the speed before turning ...it almost feels like slow motion blasting ..

its a radical little stick .

It's a nice looking board and looks awesome on paper. I'm after a smaller board to compliment my current quiver. I'm looking at the 8'3 x 31 hipster twin ( would probably go a custom 8'5x30.5), 8'7 placid and 8'7 flow.

I am bit torn on the width of the placid and twin as ive been on my 29 wide board for so long I didn't think going wider would be ideal.

Do you find the 31 width going to be annoying after a few months? In comparison to the 8'10 flow would the placid be easier to throw around? What about paddle and wave catching ability?

Annnnddd... hows the tr3 tech? Seem pretty durable compared to the xxx construction?

now your getting technical ....ok ..lets compare it to the 8,10 flow ..the flow will always catch waves better 130 litres and 31 7/16 wide right to the tail mind you .

you can throw the 8.7 placid around heaps more than the 8,10 flow ,it catches waves pretty good .and at first I did think the 31 was going to feel wide ,but now i need it with the shortness of the board ...the 8,7 flow is a way tippier board and feels a lot smaller ..but i just seem to be able to throw the placid around a bit easier ..i reckon its got to be the generous rocker ..in the tail as well ,and it is narrower in the tail compared to the flows .SO it has a good bite .I don't like the 8,10 flow much ,too big for me and found it stiff .

you can ride the placid as a twin ...oh and quad and normal set of thruster set too ...and have different settings on the side bites ,i'm still exploring this board ...

the TR3 .IT just feels way more solid and stiffer ..with the XXX .you can push it in a little ..but the TR3 feels like a rock ..thumbs up there mate .

the 8'7 is the right size for me ..I think I would be struggling on the 8,3 placid ..I'M 95 kg and over 55 .

I'm pretty happy with the placid ,I'm surfing a lot more radical and trying more tricks .the 8,7 flow is a faster board ,if you like lots of speed .
I'm lucky i have both and my 9,1 acid ..a gem .lol.can't wait to get my Hulk .

Still loving the Placid but due to crap conditions over Christmas haven't had it out in any decent waves. We did have a shoulder high session on Saturday with some steep very late take off's. The Placid catered well in the short steep waves and i never caught the nose once. The overall rocker in this board is significant yet it still gets you up and going pretty quick.

A definite allround go to board.

I asked about the 8'10 as we both had one and I found it a bit too big for me in the end. Felt awkward after awhile. I know you are simialr weight to me too!

Theres a nice 8'7 flow for sale near me but I think it'll be too small on the less than perfect days.

I went out in lame surf today, on shore ,i found the placid ok ,the 8,7 flow i probably would of fallen off a lot more ,
both boards are great ,the placid is probably more versatile .i also was very um ar about the width at first of the placid
but no more now I've ridden it .

now its up to you to choose ...

I Like both ,but i reckon most days I would grab the placid now .

Nice pics Dude!
looks like you are finding the sweet spot on your Placid

I saw mine yesterday.
I looked at it... didn't even touch it.
Walked right past it in the rack.
After driving a 1,500 mile nightmare run, in a van that didn't want to run or stop, I just wanted to deliver the 21 SUPs in my van, then Go to the repair shop.
The van literally accelerated, every time I stepped on the brakes

Going to Surf EXPO tomorrow to hang with Bert & Tino for a few days.
That should be legend ????

Then.... pick up repaired CreekVan, my Placid and hit the beach in sunny Florida

Oops, like I say.... van is running all backwards. ????

Been trying to find the sizes and dim's on the placid range?, is it just cause it's so new that it has made it to the sunova website as yet or is it a side model through sunova and it's elsewhere?
could anyone post a link or point me in the right direction, I'm interested in adding this to my quiver as well to complement my JP pro 8'6" ?
