Doesn't have to be carbon to be light.
My Hobie RAW is 8'11 x 31 = 6.3 Kg (14 lbs)

The new Cannibals are running 16 lbs for an 8'10 x 31.... NOT carbon

yep glassing with carbon is non creative lazy glassing .
But carbon is the in buzzword.
Starby now reckons that carbon has good flex and reccomend it for flex.
Funny how we gave up building full carbon sandwich slalom boards in the 80's because they were too stiff.

You can be as creative with carbon as with glass: you can still play with fibers weave and direction, carbon glassing can be good or bad, just using carbon doesn't make a automatically a good glassing.

*boards never were 100% carbon.
I don't think there are 100% carbon, PVC sandwich SUPs on the market. All the PVC sandwich boards I know have only the inner layer as carbon, the outer being glass.
