We had a nice dw race yesterday in France, part of the Euro Tour. Unfortunatly it was sup 14' and sup foil in the same time so riders such Clement Colmas (world class rider at both 14' and foil) had to choose.

Anyway it a nice 23 km, open ocean to beach. Bumps were really good with open ocean swell then the second part the bumps were smaller/shorter but still pretty fun.

Titouan Galea and Tom Constant were crazy fast especially on the first part, I coudn't believe the speed they got. They use super hight aspect prototype wing.

Yeah greg! 3rd place for foil?

How about that beach run at that end of the race. While carrying your foil no less. Signature 210? I love that you're making the podium for these races on stock gear. I hope you at least get bro deals on stuff haha.

Go check on surfermag for my thoughts on the 760 btw. I compared raw footage last night of a 760 session and a 900 session and the 900 sure does appear to be faster though. No wonder it's a favorite for downwind.

Yes the run to the finish line was long, haha

Yes Signature 210, worked pretty good in those conditions, easy to take off, good speed, good glide, comfortable. I whish I could use a smaller faster wing but I don't have the cardio and tehcnique yet but I'm working on it.

Do you think the speed advantage of a smaller wing is mitigated by shorter windswell conditions? In Cape Town we ride mostly windswell and the bigger wings don't seem to be that much slower. But I also read somewhere that a heavier guy would be faster than a lighter guy on same size wing - so in the end it's all about technique and stamina anyways

Nice work mate, I was spewing that we could not get to Europe this year as we were super keen to do these races!!

Do you have the average speed of any of the finishes? Always hard to see how fast people are going with out this as working from the race time and race distance can be quite a bit off.

Wings have definitely gotten faster and I know our new one's are much faster than what was riding a few months ago.

Good work frenchfoiler!! Are those doubleconcaves on your board not sucking water like crazy when doing touchdows/lift-offs?!

Am I right if that F-One board looks like it has a rounded bottom contour? Also interesting volume distribution. Prototype I guess?

Smaller/thinner/hight aspect wing is faster and easy to control hight speed in big ocean swell but it is technical to take off and once on a shorter/less energy bumps it is super tricky to keep up.

Yes this was a really good event, we had nice big speedy boat to drive us 23 km out the sea !!

I don't have the details but I will ask.

One year ago I was on 2000 cm2 and the other guys were on 1300 cm2 hight aspect, now I'm on 1350 cm2 but they are on 950 cm2, so yes I guess the evolution is there but I'm still left behind, not enought time into dw foiling to get used to hight performance gear.

Well it seems to me that the double concave actually helps during touch down, it doesn't stick at all, it always rebound super quick.

In the other hand, those fone boards are totally different, no kick tail, no double concave and they seem to work really good as well.

Both design have recess deck wich I think helps for more control.

Bigger guy on same wing= Higher wing loading (kg per cm2 of wing).
So all characteristic speeds (stall, best Lift/Drag,Max controllable) will be higher.

So in a simplified way a lighter guy will need a smaller wing to have the same perfo as a bigger guy on same design.

But at least in Paragliders and Hanggliders there is another factor due to Reynolds number (viscosity?) which means that for two pilots flying the same design at exactly the same wing loading the bigger guy+bigger wing will be more efficient and have better perfo.
But i do not know if this translates to a wing "flying" in water.

The gong alu mast is a noodle even at 60 cm.

Gong v1

The v2 mast out now is totally different, with huge stifness gains: thicker, and with an adaptator between the mast and fuz for added stiffness, as alu masts are extruded and thus constrained on their end shapes.

v2 masts are not compatible with v1 plates and fuz, but still compatible with v1 wings and stabs.

Note that the Gong carbon masts have also gained stiffness in their current v2 version.
