It's interesting how the new trend in wing boards is to add some rocker. Aside from initial take off, I've never found anything good about riding nose down. Glad you've got it dialed. Did you mean 2.5 mm base shim or actually 2.5" of rake from 90 deg?

Ooops-2.5" would be immense, eh?
My bad, it's 2.5 degrees.
Makes a huge difference, completely balanced now. Yeah, next wing board going to have that built into tail rocker as my current is dead flat. Doubt I'll need that on my prone

I got a chance to ride the 960R after a few months riding only the 860R (93-95kg). Very similar ride, great pump, obviously a little less turny. Nothing surprising at all. 1075R is coming in the next few weeks. I'm stoked on this series of foils for surfing and downwinding.

You think the 960R is a viable first DW foil for Hawaii conditions?

I did a lot better learning to downwind on my axis 1201, but I hate how it rides. lots of low end for paddle-up and transitions but it turns like crap in comparison. I'm really hoping the 1075 can replace the 1201 forever. If you're lighter than me the 960R could be a good first DW foil

I'm getting ahead of myself. I picked up a used axis 1300 to get me through the dog days of very beginning stages, so actually it would be the 2nd. Talk about turning, with the ginormous wingspan on the axis 1300 I'm hoping to not be on it too long.

615s seems like a nice to have, luxury item. The 720s however is a staple... a must have.. Least that's what I tell myself as I hover over the buy button.

Depends on local conditions. I always felt a bit overdone when towing with the 720. I have tried the longer fuse and shimmed different tails with not much luck. The 615 just feels right dropping into a steep decent sized wave.

I only say that because I don't have a 720S. As soon as I do, I'm almost certain the 615 will be essential. So goes the foiling virus.

Love the 720, I (82KG) ride it with the med fuse and the 135R tail on a NoLimitz mast with a Stringy adapter. Gets me going so fast in winging (Sab Torpedo 90L, Ozone Flux 5) makes me doubt any bigger foil. Glide is great, turns pretty good too.

Any rumours about new code foils this year? Axis just released a new ART Pro v.2 and makes me wonder if the Code guys have any updates coming too. Maybe an updated S Series.

Why would they need to? The S series is already one of the best all round surf/wind wings (same couldn't be said for the axis spitfire) and the R series is far beyond an Art Pro.Code will probably just continue to fill in gaps in sizes

Hey crew,
I've got an essentially brand new 960R used for maybe an hour, contemplating a swap to the 1300s if anyone is interested.

Hey Guys,
after some advice as looking at the Code foils. currently use Axis hps 1050 & 930 with a 375p Adv + , What set up would cover that, average Joe who likes playing in swell, no breaking waves, would like to do DW. one foil do it? As cost a consideration. No chance of demo kit in uk. cheers.

Probably start by looking at the 1130s or 1300s (depending on your weight/ability) with a 150/158AR tail

No breaking waves and wanting to DW points towards something big

Hi fellas,

Recent convert from f one SK8 1050/850 to code 980/720.

I've only ridden the 980 so far on medium fuse and 158. I've bought a kparts mako v2 carve 150 which will hopefully arrive next week.

I love the 980 so far, but could do with increasing the turning a bit more, what's ur views on how much the short fuse will improve things?

Smaller tail helps and the short fuse is an improvement for turning. The 980 is a big lifty foil, at 90 odd kg the 850 is my "big" foil for light wind and or small waves.

Thanks, it's similar in lift to my old SK8 1050, faster with better glide. I'll try this new 150 tail then maybe get a short fuse.

I tried the 850 and liked it, but felt the 980/720 would cover me more than 850/615.

I feel the same way. I'm 84kg and my 850S is now my light-ish decent wind day foil. Like 10-20... of 10-15knots gusting to 18knots. I need to order a 980S because most days here are slightly lighter than that. I do plan to prone the 850 for small waves once my short mast arrives. I used a 150AR tail the first few times out, but I've been enjoying the 130R more. It unlocks more glide out of that foil.

I need some advice. I understand Code is mostly optimized for unpowered foiling, like prone and downwind. I've been really liking the 850S on an Axis HM 90 mast for winging. I've even approached 30MPH on that setup.
However, I recently acquired a Code + 85 mast and I'm not getting the same results. I like that it's light and stiff. However, I'm finding that I can't run the same speeds on the 850S with it. As soon as I pass 23 MPH + I have to be careful cause it will unexpectedly ventilate.
Not sure what to make of it, but I seem to not be able to push it as hard as the Axis mast on the same foil.
Thoughts?
