Chris, I would respectfully disagree with you. However given this is a public forum I perhaps should have realised my phrase could turn the thread into a hijacked sh1tfight, so if the mods want to pull the post so be it.
Btw re your earlier remark re Ango Aussie sailors, I have no qualms recommending people stay well clear of drunken yob Aussies when overseas and have uttered words to that effect many times. So if you think I am racist (and I would strenuously argue I am not) so be it, but at least I am racist (in your eyes) to all races which makes a nonsense of the term.
Perhaps this link best sums up my feelings on such matters. Its done the rounds a few times but I hope it raises a smile.

It's hard to believe that someone cannot see the difference between being over the top PC as in the vid, and saying that we shouldn't stereotype large numbers of people who look different from us.

The thread is about recommendations. If a poster observes something as a trend, and makes a recommendation to avoid the occurrence, that is not racism or discrimination, just an observation.
Hi David
Not sure about places down your way but there are a few places I avoid around here because of the blow in's.
They are noisy and rude, plus they leave their ****e scattered every where.
I get really annoying when they want to move in on your quiet nice spot and force you to stand up for your self which insights them to become aggressive and violent.
Some restaurants even put signs out to warn patrons of this problem and how to stop the influx of the trouble makers.
But for some reason people are so Arrogant and ignorant towards others they still go ahead and feed the seagulls anyway. ![]()

Echo on the Marina in Roseville, you can anchor out a bit near Roseville bridge and row in, it's quiet enough that some people stay overnight up there. OI there may be space on a berth if you call ahead.
Middle Harbour Yacht club and the other restaurants around the Spit sometimes have a space on their jettys.
There is berth near there owned by the restaurant.
You can have a meal or overnight, but I think you must book.
I love how the politically correct squad scream racism to deflect observation of actual facts. Races, with exceptions, follow their culture. I don't care for races that support the appalling Human Rights abuses that occur in Middle Eastern countries or those politically correct individuals who won't stand up for our culture of law and decency. Human Rights abuses - as a field partner of a medical charity - I can quote hundreds. But funny thing, not in western countries. I can easily draw a factual conclusion that standards of Human Rights are appallingly lower in Middle Eastern countries. If you are a journalist you can even be murdered in a Middle Eastern country in a Turkish embassy with no consequences!!
How does that flow down to us on boats, when individuals who's historic upbringing has limited concern for Human Rights and insomniacs comment?
My experience of staying on the moorings at the zoo last year was out of 4 occasions 3 were nightmares. Rivs Scarabs and jet skis ripping past us, yelling, loud doof doof music and beer bottles thrown into the water. The forth they weren't there. Guess who was there the three nightmare nights. Boats full of people of Middle Eastern appearance. That's the facts of 4 stays on the moorings at the zoo. 75 percent ruined by those people. Statistics don't lie.
Insomniac, I believe you and won't try to shut you down or defend their bad behaviour by screaming racism.
Arn't the people here trying to get away from those troubles.
My son wrestled a young Iranian who had inflicted pit marks all over his back.
He survived torture and was so happy to be here.
Are we going to be an inclusive community and survive these troubles or not?
Doyle's have a free mooring with a dinghy
Hi Scott
How do you identify Doyles mooring?
Hi All
I just had a wander around Blackwattle Bay and saw a couple of cafes/restaurants with wharfs nearby, and was wondering if there was a list or suggestions about places where we could tie up our motor boat and safely get lunch, preferable while able to keep an eye on things.
thanks!
david
It sounds like hard work to me.
Much more enjoyable to self cater and pick up a mooring in a lovely bay.
Maybe I am lucky, but I always find a mooring.

The Destination scheme might give you some ideas: www.rms.nsw.gov.au/maritime/using-waterways/boating-destinations-plan/index.html
Bundaberg town reach looking downstream at lunchtime today. Best place to be this time of year, cool crisp nights and warm sunny days. We didn't have any rain this summer so the river is pretty clear.

Love that spot. so worth going up the river.

Cockle Bay Marina...will cost you, depending on size of boat, $40 for up to 3 hours. You can stay longer - for pretty well as long as you want ..over night is something in the region of $170. Yes v .expensive but its in the heart of Sydney CBD. Usually can just rock up , except on busy weekends / holidays. Nicks Restaurant will bring food to your boat. Depending on your size of boat, you will need to consider Pyrmont Bridge opening hours ( 10am and 3pm ??? weekends only -otherwise pay $110 from memory for a bridge opening). It can gets pretty rowdy / ugly down there (though not so bad outside of summer) when crowded..besides who's got the biggest boat, those stink boat owners love proving who's got the loudest doof doof music. Turn around and go home if you see any Riviera owners of "Middle Eastern appearance".
Nicks restaurant will bring you eight battered fish fillets and chips $95
Beers six pac $49
Ice $10

Funny this should come up now. I was checking out Pitwater and the Hawksbury on sat maps on Sunday and found this place that looks perfect for a stop off and meal. Boat is the only way to get there. Hope its not too exclusive up market. I saw the Angels did a live show a while back.

You can arrange a transfer from brooklyn..they use to be closed for a few weeks in winter..you have to book.. Best food ive ever eaten.. great family business... been there since the 70s i think...i use to be good friends of the son.. heard alot of stories of very famous local and international musicians going for a feed.. drinks then having a jamb. A real hidden gem..beautiful people, magical spot.. awesome food.
Anchor in Blackwattle Bay & walk up Forsyth St for a massive cheap brekkie feed at "The Spot" - one of the last old school cafes around. Good coffee as well. I think the one I have is "the backpacker". Mmmm.
There are plenty of other places up there - the little Japanese restaurant is very good.
Cheers

I do not know how big your motor-boat is., but have often seen people idle their motor boats on to the beach at Watsons Bay. Why do you need to 'keep an eye on things' ? - I have often parked my $3000 sea-kayak at Manly Cove and walked through The Corso to look at the ocean.
I had my dinghy on the beach upside down and some kid decided to bounce all over it while his mum watched, chatted on the phone. I had to tell him to get off while she said "oh sorry"
Pays to keep an eye if you can and at Watson's bay you can. I've always kept my dinghy on the beach at manly. Sometimes for hours.
Years ago, an elderly friend invited me to leave my sea-kayak in his harbourside backyard - which was fantastic as I did not own a car then, and lived in the Blue Mts. So we get my kayak waterside, and I explored Sydney Harbour and the sea-cliffs, and had many joyful and surprising things occur, setting me up well for the 4x SK crossings of Bass Strait that I later did over a 8 years, and crewing many yachts.
One morning, as I pushed off, and wigggled around in the cockpit, fitting my spraydeck, I watched a little boy hold his father's hand and jump three times on every upturned boat before jumping to the next one, at the N end of Watsons Bay. I cried from 30m offshore, 'Hey - you can't do that; stop your child doing that - you are damaging other peoples tenders - rowboats'. Immediately, this chap (yes, of the ethnic appearance described at this thread previously), threw his child's arm down hard, and ran, fully clothed deep into the water. Instinctively, I back-paddled hard, listening to him shout that I had no right to tell him how what to do with his kid.
I stayed out to dusk, as it was as equally frightening then as the night I bivied by my kayak on a tiny beach, within a secluded SH bay, only to wake and watch a large transfer of many oversized flour bags from sloop to motorboat...
