Any info can be left on this site or Eero Tiitinen's Facebook page. The family,we are all terribly worried and following up every possible clue or scrap of info.Thanking you all for your concern and any help in finding him,Mindi and the boat. Thanks
Good Morning...it looks like the post allegedly by Eero on his FB page on the 1st December was MOST likely NOT him...however, it is nothing sinister it would appear it is an automatic download from some Horoscope web site....he may have at some previous time been on the site and or some spurious linking took place...Cheers
The water police are widening the search area.Hope there are sightings or new info to his disappearance. The boat had two masts and an auto pilot.
A lady on Face Book that Eero knew had a texted message from him that he had made it safely over the bar at Inskip point . Apparently the police are trying to retrieve the message off her old phone
Thanks for the update HG, that's good news! It should have been nice sailing from there down to Moreton . I am trying to think of where you could run into difficulty. North west channel over the top of Moreton?

I'm not sure how the masts were rigged Id say they had a Triatica set up it was mainly later self built Walkers that had the mizzen set as stand alone I think
Lot of photos of Colombo 7 on the net, when he had it up on dry dock and Hervey Marina would know.ThanksLook for Colombo 7 Sailing boat

By the look of the chain plates on the mizzen Id say it had a Triatica ( rigging wire running from the main mast to the mizzen at the top[ of both masts)
I'm not sure of the wind direction on the days he was sailing down to Morton
I did leave a message with the lady that received his last texted message saying he had cross the Instep bar OK . I sorted of wanted to know the time and date he'd message her
She did get back to me saying that she had deleted the message unfortunately as its a very old phone . Apparently the police are trying to extract the message.
Wait and see I guess.
She did add that it was one or two days after hed left Harvey Bay and the time was not unusual that it was sent.
I assume the sou easters are in up there so if he had come to grief a fair amount of flotsam would have come ashore on Fraser Is, Moreton Is or the coast around them. It is possible he has gone to ground somewhere and just hasn't been in touch. Here's hoping.

Yes, HG, thanks for the update.
Wolf Rock off Double Island Point ? ... although not that far from the Bar, so still in daylight and fresh from crossing...assuming Eero crossed in daylight hours (most, most likely).
A series of coastal headlands mostly along the route.
Old Woman Island....close in to coastline.
Couple of shoaly areas close into the beaches.
Brays Rock near the Fairway Beacon at Caloundra.
The shipping channel is lit like a runway, however, Eero would have been fatigued by this stage of the journey. If Eero missed the shipping channel, lots of VERY shallow water at the top end of Moreton Bay. Spitfire Banks, Wild Banks, Pearl Banks etc. All with a northerly pushing him down into it.
SHIPPING TRAFFIC is frenetic and relentless as we all know.
Morning Bird, we are experiencing a cycle of strong northerlies followed by strong southerlies then northerlies and so on and so forth. I agree about the flotsam and jetsam. There must be some physical evidence if Eero came to grief.
So, if a miracle has occurred and he is holed up somewhere, where??? Straits somewhere??? Easily searchable and I guess once the Police do their magic with the text about crossing the Bar, that will determine inside or outside the Straits.
Along the route? Noosa and Maroochy Rivers...very, very unlikely. Mooloolaba?? Caloundra...very, very unlikely. Maybe he hugged Bribie Island, Skirmish Pt...Pumicestone Passage. Caboolture River? And then, anywhere in Moreton Bay....and keep searching down the inside down to the Gold Coast?
I can't imagine what Eero's family and friends are experiencing right now. Losing someone is tragedy enough, let alone the not knowing what has happened.
The picture of Eero on the Missing Persons notification reminds me so very much of my late Dad, who sailed, singlehanded, right up to passing away in 2008. Pray that Eero is still with us and is just taking some time out.
Kindest regards and hopes to Eero's family and friends.
Tracey
Can the telcos tell which phone tower recieved the text message? Triangulate position? Find my iPhone app?
Hi...I have a question for you about boating/sailing and Eero's boat in particular......
I have been contacted by a gentleman and I believe is credible with regards sailing...he has stated that..." Whilst Eero's boat is very good it has one fault.....It Rolls.......this gentleman sailed the boat from Nhulunbuy, NT to Cape York.....he was surprised how much the boat rolled....that means if the boat was sideways to a big swell it could tip over".
Consequently I would like to verify if anyone on the forum or that knows Eero and or his boat could they please confirm this information for me.
Regards
The H28 has a 50% balast ratio, and is unlikely to roll too far. It does, however have a large cockpit, which would take awhile to drain.
The cock pit drain is very large and will drain complete fairly Quickly if it was full of water .
In bad weather Id fit at least one wash board
I would also believe Eero would keep his boat to a high maintenance standard , we have talked several time over the past couple of years on the phone and as Eero has a electronics and electrical back ground and keeps his motor to a high standard also.
There are over 80 Walker H28 Ketch's built by Kahn Walker there a good sea boat
www.h28.com.au/pages/walker-h28shttp://www.h28.org.nz/index.php/about-the-h28 Compass built over 300 H28's
The New Zealand H28 was built as a sloop some say not as heavily built as the Walker . There's been a few that have circumnavigated
Hi All,
I'm an airline pilot. I do not have personal contact with flying schools or charter operators in that area, but I do know some of my work colleagues do.
if not already done, I'd like to help out by contacting these operators to get them to keep a look out when in the area.
is there a flyer made up that could be distributed to them? Photos, last confirmed position, intentions etc.
I've emailed the Police link to 12 Aero Clubs and Flight Schools between Harvey Bay and Brisbane.
Another avenue may be some of the 4WD clubs, that area is pretty popular with off roaders along the beaches?

Thanks F.R. appreciate it so will Eero's Family. I'm sure
FreeRadical thank you so much that is fantastic...hopefully there will some results from your efforts..Cheers
Had a look at the MSQ shipping movements for Port of Brisbane between the 18th and the 20th November. There was a lot of traffic arriving and departing in hours of darkness, also a lot anchored in the Point Cartwright Anchorage. On the bright side, more chance of a sighting of Eero's boat.
The pilots leave Mooloolaba to board the ships out in the anchorage/at the Fairway Beacon for piloting into Port of Bne. I'm guessing the Police have been in contact with them?
Shipping agencies??
Does anyone know whether he was AIS-equipped?
Has it been determined when he crossed Wide Bay Bar? If he logged on with Coastguard at Tin Can Bay?
