There was quite a few SB'ers that went Nth last winter, it looked like fun, I'm wondering who's doing it this year?
I'm considering a late dash up this year(maybe late August), returning Sth in October.
cheers
Me, me, me. I left my boat on the hard at bundaberg last october. Will be going back with a mottley bunch and a parrot, aaarrh. to laze around and be iresponsable till its time to sail home
I have been persuaded to travel north again this year. Leaving 2nd week July, will back late September all going well.
Not me. Leaving the boat in tasmania for the winter the a long summer cruising season for us down here.

I'll be sailing from Brisbane early June but only as far as Gladstone, there I'll be checking out and sailing to Honiara.
I have july off. Packing up the kids and heading north for a month. Any other kid boats heading north around that time? Harvey bay / kepples area.
We will be sailing north from Pittwater late September. Up the NSW coast until it's time to take our deckie back home in late October. We should run into a few Seabreezers heading south. How far north? Only time will tell.
Yep we are leaving the confines of the Clarence River to spend winter in the Whitsundays. Can't wait to start the run North and will try and see it all along the way. Will start heading up mid to late May.
How far far are you thinking of going?
May I make a suggestion....
If we register Seabreeze [subject to moderators OK, of course] on Skipr, [52.65.175.107/]
then we will be able to track all of those Seabreezers who are out there cruising.
By registering as a club its one click to see all Seabreezers without the rest!
Good to see a few going North, & I hope to meet any SB'ers along the way.
I'm selling the trip to the wife, by meeting her and the kids up there.
I'm thinking of meeting them at Hamilton Is, anyone got any info of sailing into the marina & picking people up from the airport? Or staying there one night, probably end of Sept', do you need to book, weeks in advance?

You can not pickup from the jetty adjacent to the airport. You can do a short stay at the marina eg. a couple of hours, but you still have to pay but I can not remember how much. If you want to stay overnight you are best to book in advance at least a week in advance. Last year we tried to get in a couple of times on short notice and couldn't get in. It's expensive, but good for one night. Be carful not to hit it on race week.
The first mate got a promotion (at work not onboard ! ) anyway I must of been doing a bit of wingeing about not getting away this winter so it was suggested that we bare hire a boat, but on investigation it was just too expensive. The next best was a tourist boat out of Airlie 3days & nights sounds a bit corny but we had a ball
Unfortunately shute harbour is still a bit messed up and the coral is fairly damaged.

Working my way up north from Port Phillip, currently in Newcastle, need to pop back home to Vic but should be back under canvas late May early June.
Woko
Is that one of the tall ships normally operating out of Sydney? A mate's son used to be their marine engineer and we passed one of the other tall ships last week who said the other one was on its way up to the Whitsundays.

Her name is Solway lass, 116 year old steely with quite an interesting history. She has been working out of Airlie for several years I believe
Ivory Moon might go north, her crew is overseas at the moment while the boat is in TCBay, and we are talking about where to go next. We might go south. Whatever, it won't be until August. Is the registration of "Seabreeze" on skipr a goer?
Is the registration of "Seabreeze" on skipr a goer?
Would you clarify that question please?
What is "skipr"? ![]()
nswsailor's suggestion in post 10 above - seems a good idea, not picked up at the time
skipr.net - boat tracking, like yit, but with a bell or a whistle, apparently
JR
Skipr.net is a site you can register your boat on and update your position. You search by boat name and the location of that boat comes up. A mate and I use it to keep track of each other. Your friends can also then " follow you around from home" from memory it shows your position on a map. I haven't updated my position lately as it's no longer a boat , it's been on land so long now I'm sure it's grown wheels. Only two more months and then my motley crew and I splash her and head north again .

I am a bit leery of this skipr.net.
Not sure I want too many people knowing exactly where I am!! ![]()

Unlike tracking software in phones etc, you just enter your location when you want. When you're doing that dodgy thing, you can go stealth!
My location shows Bruny Island, but I am actually deep under an extinct volcano whilst stroking a long-haired white cat and plotting global domination.![]()

Oh well!! If that is the way it works I will have to give it a burl. ![]()
Not sure about that "global domination" thing Bristol. I was the world's worst player in Microsoft's Age of Empires.
Yes, I have plans to take off from Port Hacking (Sydney) at Easter, sailing up the coast to the Whitsundays. Mostly staying in coastal bays overnight. Be good to rejuvenate this thread for the 2019 season. Return is planned for September.
cheers Richard
I'm probably heading north in June on Akoya from Port Stephens and back around October. Hoping to get to Hervey Bay area. Happy to set up on skipr.net and meet other breezers.
Cheers Bill
There's a group on Facebook www.facebook.com/groups/278181553081259/
Cruising QLD 2019
There are 35 plus boats heading north this year on that group already.
It's an off shot of FB Sailing Australia Group
We are heading north again on Jo-De 7 this year. Will be leaving Brisbane in early June. We would like to do Magnetic Island Race week this year but will depend on if we can pick up some crew or we could do non spinnaker. Probably go as far as Cairns.
