Went went down to boat to install new vhf radio, aerial, aerial base and cable. Simple job turned into bloody frustration.
Needed to enlarge hole for new cable through transom. Using new Ryobi cordless tightened bit normal way drilled hole slightly small and was reaming edges when the bit fell out into transom . Could see it but out of reach . Thirty minutes to retrieve with borrowed garden rake.
There was an extra red wire coming out of terminal at switchboard for old vhf which disappeared between internal liner and hull. Looked like It was heading to mast so thought I'd better find out what it's doing . One hour later discovered it went nowhere. In the process of crawling around ripped open leg on sharp fibreglass edge , on blood thinners so blood everywhere . Radio operational ,next week reroute depthsounder cable . More holes to drill. Love it.

sounds like me when I'm trying to fix something on the boat, always finish in drama. Last time I went completely mad about my geni and threw it overboard. After a bit of argument, my gf convinced me to go find it in muddy -13m ...

Should of thrown the girlfriend over and kept the generator. Hope it wasn't a Honda!

Thanks BB, I needed a laugh!
I am sure boats have personalities, and one of their moods is sulking. Or just downright pissed at you for not sailing them enough, so they give you a slap to remind you.
A sneaky cat biting an ankle springs to mind.
Laughing with ya buddy, not at you of course.....

Only in as much there was a heap of dings in the deck .

But with how thick it is, it probably wouldn't take much sanding to cover up non slip.

The Perkins M60 motor on Icon has had a air in fuel leak since day one that's been causing it to bleed back and making it hard to start and run smooth.
Today I replaced the old primary filter which was down near the gearbox and hard to access with new fuel system including a Primer bulb, I have sorted the problem now she starts first turn of the key like a champ! I love boats! ??

The primer bulb got added at the last minute as I couldn't get the fuel iinto the Cav bowl with the Perkins crappy lift pump!
Painting starts again tomorow again if I don't have to work. Going to try nd re-tint the paint so it's not so bright!

I re-fitted the clock and barometer the roof is going to be a bitch to paint but will get it done. Would like to have stainless/chrome plated clock and barometer to finish it off but Can't afford its now.similar to my last re- fit ,
this one is going to be bigger and better than by last re-fit I'm hoping!'

Today I made more inroads into making opening hatch type windows for the front half of my boat .
the benefits of more airflow in the tropics is inducive to major efforts/comfort gains.
they will be a smaller version of this style with different opening direction.

Those double side windows look flash mate and like you say, just the shot for catching cooling breezes in FNQ.
Where did you score them and how much??

Today I drilled 9 holes in my boat to run the paddle wheel transducer cable from the fox hole to the cock pit and ended up with a bit of slack at the end of it and a bit of a suck to clean up the mess.

It was a decidedly sexual experience I can tell you.

I had the frames made in Weipa, put them together when I got back to Brisbane.
they were not cheap!
yet still cheaper than slim line hatches which would not have worked as well, due to space constraints.

I toned the white down and gave it a green tinge.
Im very happy with the finish and will now continue with the roof , port bulkhead and a few other bits!
Not bad for a weekend warrior!
I love boats!

What did I do to my sail boat tyoday?

I hung my Garmin 75 dv and GME GX 700 off the deckhead over the nerve centre and ran their various wires in the direction they need to go.
Not live yet. That is tomorrow's challenge.
