added some paint the other day and started to reassemble ill finish it tonight

I hope it's windy where your going ho2. I only turn my wind gen on at nights or if I'm low on power! Bloody noisy thing !
Its just an option in stormy weather S.A. and part of a puzzle Im still working on

The shrinking frigwas 175 litres with eutectic plate and engine driven compressor
nor workingdubious decision to reduce size of frig and get Engel
underestimated time and skill required and overestimated my time and skills
getting there slowlingfun though prefer sailing
padding 50 mm poly ISO insulation all around then fibreglassing in
then painting see what I mean !
If your only doing a week or so Id just buy dry ice and use that that will keep things cold
So my cabin table also will be my cock pit table now just roughed out but I'll sort it

I still have to make pivot bushing for the the tiller
But it will be fine the hydraulic cylinder will be attached to a steering toggle aswell as rhe chart plotter so u can steer with pistol grill or WiFi
It's just a hydraulic version of a
Raymarine 100 in hydraulics
Which gives me more cockpit
As its a sloop uim doing I may move the Genoa back to a similar spot as Donks sailmaster
The later slide a pole out from the bow spit fir a tip down making it user friendly
Rub rail primed

Other side ready now just finished sanding
Primed the other side

I'll get one Coat of gloss on today
HG, would it be out of place to suggest you make the table 3-legged by utilising the tiller upright shaft (is it called the headstock?) and having a short rear leg resting over the top nut somehow. The tiller handle would have to be horizontal though.

Id like to utilize the same mounting when I use it in the cabin its only 28 foot room with a view ![]()
finished a few more coats do more tomorrow its good to have tiller back on and as well as the one in my head ![]()

I just keep looking at my butcher/surgical removal and wonder if I will ever get some help to finish the job!

Hi folks, this is a loong thread. Today I've wired an extension speaker for the vhf, trimmed and lanoxed the standing rigging, stocked the fridge, cleaned the engine sea water intake filter, checked the bilges, discovered seabreeze, all while holed up in port Stephens waiting for this southerly to settle down, looks like currency lass could be here for a few days, nice place to be stuck in port ![]()
Well what a long weekend, All geared up for a beaut sunday sail checked the oil F*#K full of water, So spent the weekend removing the motor, now its in my shed to be stripped down !0hp Arona i think these motors are better suited for moorings always an issue
Has any one replaced one of these and what did you use in a Spirit 28. Cheers

Welcome to the forum Woko, where are you off to after PS?
Give the public moorings at Shoal Bay a miss(poorly managed & maintained), ok for lunch but not really overnight, 1 or 2 of them are so close to other moorings you get tangled up in other moored vessels. Another one has a 25ft rope strop on it!, damaged my rudder before I got around to shortening it.
Shoal Bay is lovely during winter, but in summer most owners remove their boats off the moorings, because of tide, swell & wind issues I reckon.

Hi darmah, I removed a 10hp Arona from my Top Hat 25 last year, & gave it away. The engine was fantastic, it started first time, every time, sounded good, it was rusty at the front due to a small water leak on the water pump, but the sides and back of the motor were nearly pristine (only discovered how good it looked after removing it).
It was the things bolted to the engine that were causing the problems, engine mounts, exhaust pipe, water pump & stern gland etc etc.
I "kind of" regret not spending a few $$$ on getting good quality engine mounts, stern gland etc & keeping the engine. I put a outboard on the transom, which isn't ideal for coastal, but at least im not spending half the time with my head in the small engine bay adjusting something.
I left the prop shaft in place, in case of putting in another inboard, I too would be interested in a suitable replacement.
The guy I gave the Arona to was thrilled, apparently they are good engines, worth fixing???
The Clarence river is home port, but am in no great hurry to get there, want to look at Broughton island, tuncurry maybe some of the ocean anchorages. It's been e bit of a shake down cruise have got a big list of things to do to the old girl when I get her home
Hi darmah re your Arona I have one sitting in my garage which was rebuilt about 10 years ago and never put back in my Top Hat .It's here if you want it ?
Cheers Jbear

so I should be far more focused plus as of today I'm a grand dad from my other son
I agree with Donk HG, your boats looking great. Are you happy with the paint job ??. ours is
still like new, it gets dirty of course but a wash down with washing up liquid and a rinse with
fresh water and it looks like its just been painted.
Happy retirement mate, and do some planning....you can't sail everywhere at once lol. Oh, and
time will probably start to move along real quick now....just sayin'.
