There is an SAR vessel heading out from Encounter Bay boat ramp, and also the Sea Rescue Goolwa craft is on the way.

Looks like they have arrived at his boat and might be heading to the Murray Mouth now......?

.....No, they have turned around and look like they are searching.

I hope they take the keys off him... Everyone is entitled to a mistake, but in this case it would be negligent to allow him his boat back.

My guess is the anchor dragged while he was asleep and sometime after the 5am call to the police saying he was in knee deep water in the hull and off Granite Is, that the boat sunk soon after and debris has been blown to the area they are searching now.

What a fiasco this guy is causing. He will be lucky if one of the rescue people does not punch him out.

Well more than likely he's perished in the ocean by now since they haven't heard from him for over 12 hours since he was sinking and adrift. There's a slim chance he's made it to land.

I wonder why the SAR aircraft is still flying this pattern?

That's a glitch in your app. Beautiful jet though. Correction I have the same circle but I doubt they would be still holding that.

I guess they are using the heat seeking technology now I see they are still flying around and the rescue boats are back home.

Sad news, the search and rescue teams have found debris identified as being from his boat, including his wallet, on a beach South of Victor Harbor. The search conditions have been shocking over the past two days.
On the positive side, the bloke who lost his wooden boat recently at North Haven, has been given a Top Hat 25 to restore, along with complimentary membership in the CYCSA, so a good outcome for him!

I feel sorry for the bloke, hope he comes out of it, though it looks grim.

The boat needed to be slipped. Apart from the prop, it appears after being towed at 6kns the planking opened up and took on a fair bit of water. While that may have been fixed somewhat, it was an accident waiting to happen. IMO, looks like the rough weather opened the boat up again.
After the search and the boat was at Granite Island the authorities should have given the boat a good look over and it it wasn't seaworthy taken the boat out of the water if the owner did not have the ability or means to do that. Sure responsibility of the owner and all, but it would seem he needed a hand to deal with it.

Sad news indeed mate, i dont reckon he his going to arse his way out of this one unfortuneatly.

I can only imagine what the bloke who sold it to him is thinking. After selling it 2 weeks ago he has watched it get recused on the news and is now probably assuming his old boat has sunk. Hopefully he isnt feeling too responsible, not that it is his fault.

Yeah I think the police need to adopt a policy of making sure rescued boats are towed to a safe harbour.
The yacht that went up on North Haven beach SA was anchored off an exposed beach, by police, less than 1/4 mile from a marina.
This boat was towed to and left in a very exposed anchorage that has no repair facilities, with a broken prop and leaking hull.
